Two-way street completed

Mylotters, remember when I mentioned to you earlier this year, that my one-way street that I live on, right off the highway, have been completed this year and right before winter. In October, they have stripped, repaved, relined and restripped the highway and most of the roads. It was no fun smelling the pugent whiff of tar, when I went to the gym and hearing them blasting holes, too. They also recemented the corner pieces of the sidewalks too and brightened the lines for pedestrian crossing. Last month, they've planted various road signs on my road and into Downtown, like 25 MPH, pedestrian crossing, and new traffic pattern ahead for example. Those one way signs don't apply anymore. There's also one of those electronic highway construction signs that display the speed limit at the left side of my apartment and near the highway. There's also new stoplight posts and new pedastian crossing buttons, and steet signposts near the gym and long my street. I've actually seen some cars go to the highway, when I see lots of cars head into Downtown. I've mostly heard one-way traffic even in nights, and not two-way yet. I know that they've taken down the parking garage near my bank and replaced it with new elevators and a better ramp, when they took it down. As for Downtown itself, there's two new shops that had opened in the Falls Riverwalk, according to the website. Mainly they open at night for liquor and sweet treats. So I'm curious to see what else would open up this spring that might bring in tourism. What's happened at Downtown in your neck of the woods?

Nothing much has happened around here for a while although this time last year there were major works on the highway right in the middle of our small town. They chose the busiest period to disrupt all the holiday traffic.

Two thumbs down for that Judy. Couldn't they have waited until after the holidays were over?

@KristenH Exactly. Again no bureaucrats with any commonsense at all.

@ricki_911 Well you're most fortunate to not hear the sounds of cars coming and going lately.

We live near a golf course and except for a condo they're building close by, nothing much is going on in my area.

I live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia. I like it that our neck of the woods is quite so quite you can hear a pin drop. On the city side there is no downtown but there is the Old Town which goes crazy at night with people bar hoping and going out to restaurants. Then there is the Center which is crazy full of people night and day and finally what is known as the Quiet zone or perhaps you could say Uptown which has shops, restaurants and bars and expensive apartments. I don't like it to much there because of the large park spaces which seem so lonely with no houses or apartments around.
