Is PRAYER important to you? What things are proper to pray for? What does God think and do about our prayers? I have many thoughts about praying and I thought that I would share this scripture with you today and a few of my thoughts about prayer. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 which says: “For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,” declares Jehovah God, “thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a FUTURE and a HOPE. And you will call me and pray to me, and I WILL listen to you.” So God wants us to pray. He wants to give us a HOPE for the future. He WILL listen to our prayers, when we pray, according to HIS will and purpose. Jesus gave us insight into the proper things for which we should pray. The Lord’s Prayer says that we should pray FIRST, for God’s name to be “hallowed.” What does the word "hallowed" mean? It means that God’s name, which is Jehovah, should be sanctified or made holy. Jesus said at John 17:6 “I have made your NAME known to the men you gave to me out of the world.” Read: Psalm 83:18 So, Jesus used God’s name and directed his followers to use God’s name. Jesus also told us, in the Lord’s Prayer, to pray for God’s Kingdom to come, and for God’s will to be done on this earth as it is in heaven. Certainly, when we look around the world, we recognize that God’s will is NOT being done on this earth NOW. But, God’s will is going to be done on this earth in the near future and we need to keep praying for that time to come. Revelation 21:3, 4

Its very important. I think the meaning behind the prayer is what matters. Like to pray to win the lotto and just have all the money is greedy. But to pray for help with a financial burden of high medical bills is okay while also praying for strength for recovery...

Yes, I agree. Those things you mentioned are proper things to pray for. Not the lottery or money.

Yes, the importance of prayer is never to be under estimated. Prayer is a powerful weapon against the Devil and it keeps us close to God.

There will always be people that will not care about GOD and will use his name in vane. I try to stay away from them

Yes, we should choose as friends, those who honor God and try to live up to HIS standards.
