Sauce Is Like Food Make Up...Right?

I think I am right on this. Every time I see the ads and promos for the food smothered in wonderful sauces and all that, well to me, that just means the food itself is probably just decent at best.
I think I am in the majority here, but I would much rather just have good ingredients and quality food. Whenever I see a steak or something being mentioned for the sauce or toppings, to me that just means it is a pretty lousy steak.
Maybe I am being a little too harsh, but that is what goes through my mind.

I once bought a 'healthy' butternut squash risotto in a supermarket. The only way I could finish it was by smothering it in tomato ketchup, which rather defeated the object of the healthy meal.
