Diary Saturday 2nd December 2017 Work again today, my first Saturday shift with the post office. And with the buses starting later at weekend I knew I couldn’t get there on time. Management were ok with it when I told them I would be about thirty minutes late. I worked on the usual small parcel tasks and had to use the finger scanners again, but the camaraderie with other team members was lovely and the day quickly passed. Diary Sunday 3rd December 2017 An official day off so I relaxed, wrote and posted out some Christmas cards, did a little Xmas shopping and lots of writing. Arthur Chappell

Glad to hear you are enjoying your job. Made me remember the scene in the movie Grinch with Jim Carey where the Grinch messes up mail in the Whoville post office. Hope you don't encounter any Grinches.

Cards posted out on 3 December? You're organised ! (Or maybe your job gives you inside knowledge of the delivery system that would surprise the rest of us...)

Sounds like working in a mailroom is just as interesting as it is over here.

@Poppylicious no I have to buy my stamps through normal retail outlets - the pot office used to give regular staff free stamps but not any more and never to seasonal temps

Why is the finger scanner so important?

@Kandae11 it tell the post office where a parcel iss in the system as well as measuring how quickly staff process work which is actually slowed down by uing the scanners
