Tax Cuts For the Rich - NO PROBLEM, Healthcare For Kids - No Money!

As far as at least one GOP Senator, Orrin Hatch of Utah, is concerned, it's fine to increase out debt by 1 1/2 TRILLION dollars to give massive tax cuts to the richest among us but when it comes to funding the CHIP program which the GOP Congress allowed to expire in October, "We don't have any money anymore." More specifically he said the following: "I have a rough time wanting to spend billions and billions and trillions of dollars to help people who won’t help themselves – won’t lift a finger – and expect the federal government to do everything.” We're talking about CHILDREN with cancer and other serious diseases. I know this is hard to believe but this man CALLS HIMSELF PRO-LIFE! He may not run for reelection in 2018 but we can be sure since he's from Utah a Republican with the same attitudes will replace him. However, ALL of the other Republicans in the House and Senate are equally disgraceful and they all deserve to be thrown out ASAP.
The senator said CHIP would pass and that he wanted to help people who would help themselves if they could.

That is just awful. I don't understand this mentality. How can you not help kids who are really sick and who need it the most? I don't get it.

I honestly don't think any decent person can understand it but it comes naturally to Republicans in the US. They don't care about those in need, they care about their wealthy campaign donors and lobbyists like the NRA. The rest of us can go to hell basically.

Republicans SUCK!!!! They are pro-life until the kid is born. Then they don’t care about its health, housing, nutrition, or education.

Exactly and I've come to the conclusion that they're ALL alike. Until this scam of a "tax cut" bill I thought there were a few with some integrity or at the very least who weren't total and complete HYPOCRITES but now I know better. Anyone who votes Republican deserves all the grief they'll surely get if they're not rich, straight, Christian, white men but the rest of us do NOT deserve to suffer.

Obama increased our debt by 10 trillion.... He is right their are millions of people out their that will not lift a finger to help themselves.....They depend on the Government for everything.... What ever happened to personal responsibility.....What ever happened to Fathers, and Mothers taking care of their Children....a big part of them have turned into wanting everything for free.... Pro-Life has to do with the murder of innocent unborn children....Programs are out their to help with children that have cancer and other life threatening things....

You clearly have no idea what my comment was even about. For one thing, NEWS FLASH, your party and your precious illegitimate POTUS are set to increase our debt by up to $1.5 according to some reports, ALL in order to give huge tax cuts and giveaways to the richest in America while taking from the poor and middle class. The Trump family stands to gain over a BILLION dollars just from the estate tax. What in the hell does "personal responsibility" have to do with this? What average family can afford to pay out of pocket for care for their child's cancer or many other illnesses? There's a big difference between "wanting everything for free" and not being able to afford six or seven figure hospital and doctor bills! The "programs are out their to help with children that have cancer and other life threatening things" are CHIP and other programs you people want to cut drastically or do away with totally. "Pro-life", as far as I'm concerned, has to do with LIFE - PERIOD - which, believe it or not, continues on once a fetus becomes a baby outside the womb. Just because you prefer to wait until babies are born to begin murdering them slowly doesn't make you pro=life. It makes you a typical conservative who apparently was born without a sensitivity or compassion gene...

@dlr297 Trump hasn't gotten a single major piece of legislation passed so there's no way to compare how much he's added to the debt with anyone else. One thing is certain - President Obama didn't add one PENNY to the debt or deficit to give huge tax cuts to the rich while raping the poor and middle class. However, we sure can compare how much he's cost us for his vacations and golf outings compared to all his predecessors... It's the RWNJs who have no real regard for unborn babies or their mothers since they're the ones cutting funding on women's health clinics. You people totally ignore the 97% or more these clinics do such as prenatal care and cancer and STD screenings. You can say "pro-life" STARTS with the unborn baby but it shouldn't END there. Many children with cancer soon will soon have NO programs to use. Trump has no health care to put into effect, he hasn't a clue and he doesn't care about the millions he and his fellow Repugs are looking to throw off their insurance.

@anniepa I will wait to see how much is added to the debt...... Besides Obama added 10 trillion to the debt over 8 years...Trump added only 600 billion his first year....a whole lot less than obama did his first year.... and years after........ It is all about personal responsibility.... Pro-Life starts with the unborn baby...which Liberals have no regard for at all.... Children with cancer have many programs to use right now....And i will wait to see what happens with them after Trump puts his health care into effect.....All we hear is the Democrats and their fear mongering tactics....I will wait to see it with my own eyes before i start complaining......

I know, I've been so depressed for over a year now I can hardly stand it sometimes. It's going to get worse, the GOP's plans for the New Year are to start cutting "entitlements" to help pay for their gifts to the rich people like themselves. Not only Food Stamps but Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and everything else is on the table. If you ever saw a Trump rally on TV you might have noticed it's his own base he'll be hurting but he doesn't care and I think many of them are too blind to see what's happening until it's too late and they're out in the cold...maybe literally.

@lookatdesktop I pretty much have no optimism these days. I want to have hope that things will get better but I don't want to get my hopes up only to have them crushed again.

@anniepa , I hope it doesn't hurt the poor as much as I think it might. But I have no real optimism about things.
