Day 45 Jeremiah 47 47:1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza. 2 Thus says the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl. 3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands; 4 Because of the day that comes to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remains: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor. 5 Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself? 6 O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still. 7 How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? There hath he appointed it. Have you felt like nothing you do or want to do is going the way you want it to? God told Jeremiah to speak his word to the Philistines. The Philistines were a nation who opposed Israel. You might recall David’s many battles with them. David won all his battles with the Philistines because God went ahead of him into battle. As Christians, you are always in some kind of battle. Satan is always coming against you, opposing everything you do for God. However, they might be a time when God is against you. Before you blame Satan for all your woes, check yourself and your position with Christ. Has he called you to do something, and you ignored it? Have you ignored your Bible study and prayer? Has the world crowded in on you, especially this time of year when Christmas occupies almost all thought and reason? Make certain you are right with God first, before you blame Satan for the problems in your life. It could be you who are to blame, and God is letting you know, you need to seek him first, and everything in your day will go right. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV) God will add whatever you need, and give you your desires, when you put him first. You might even find the time to get everything done you need to do. Let’s pray: Father, help me keep my focus on you, every day, even on those days when my day is filled from the time I get up until I put my head on my pillow. I do not want to be in opposition with you, but in harmony with you, feeling your love surrounding me at all times. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. That is a good prayer, sometimes I get distracted I will just phase Him out for awhile, and that's something I never want to do.

Amen, if only all people in the word accept Jesus Christ the only Savior, then there will be universal peace, so hard.

Yes, it would be nice if everyone would do that. It is hard for people to accept that there is someone who truly loves them with everything we see in the world.

Great study and a good lesson to really think about. Are we just standing around talking about being a saved Christian? Or are we truly digging into the scriptures, living a life according to God's own commandments and obeying our heavenly Father each day, as we're directed to do? That's where the rubber meets the road, not just being a hearer of the word, BUT A DOER OF HIS WORD.

I agree, just talking a good talk, isn't doing what God tells us to do. We do need to be doers of the Word and not hearers only, or talkers.

@just4him Some Christians like to talk about the Lord, but refuse to obey his commands!:(

So true, God might be closing some doors and it might feel awful. Its only because we aren't looking up to him to see that opened window he gave us!
