But everyone seems to get along. No riots...no name calling...nothing like that. They even eat at the same tree at the same time. Why can't humans do it?

Because humans are born with meanness in their heart, animals don't have this problem.

@JolietJake Oh, we all know better than to believe this! Scar would never kill a bird, behead a squirrel, or beat the snot out of a neighbor cat!

@JolietJake I don't know about that, JJ. Hasn't Scar gotten in some scrapes with other cats that dare to invade his territory? Maybe it's not meanness but righteous indignation?

I couldn't get a photo but we have noticed a pecking order in the multitude of squirrels that infest our front yard. The big gray ones are the most aggressive and chase away some of the others. The black ones are a little more retiring....but it's the tiny brown ones that are the sneakiness. The albino generally hangs out in the cemetery around the corner (thinks it's a ghost?).

animals follow predator-prey relationship, while humans follow segregation of caste-creed-colour....if everybody is to be happy, then this world wouldnt have existed and hence for its existence there has to be a discrimination...be it wealth/health/size/nationality etc etc

for its existence there has to be a discrimination I'm afraid I see no logic in that statement

@JolietJake let me explain it in simple Physics...only when there's a difference in water level, it flows else it remains stagnant.... You and your Boss is discriminated by either qualification/experience/wealth...and because theres a difference he is a boss n you are his subordinate. If both were at same level, then things wouldn't have worked forward

Except this world, at one point, existed before discrimination was a "thing".

That's cool that you put corn out for the squirrels.

@JolietJake I'd love to have squirrels here. In town there are squirrels but perhaps our dogs keep such critters away from my place.

@sallypup Scar goes after them occasionally (half-heartedly) but he'd rather sit there and just watch them

Whatever you do @JolietJake , don't call a News Team out to your place because I'm sure they would figure out some way to make the story 'racist'.

Because we are the "intelligent" ones. I wonder if we should take the "You're an animal!" statement as a compliment. I believe it's because we think too much... of the wrong things. And sometimes... Religion and media plays a big part of that.

You've got some great photos of the squirrels over time. It seems only humans who have trouble with skin/hide/hair colour.

Because humans are naturally suspicious creatures who, rather than embrace difference and diversity, would rather see it as a negative. Like the old saying goes, there are many species that display homosexual behaviour but only one that displays homophobic behaviour!

We need to go live in trees and eat corn like they do . Actually maybe that's we need to do . . . strip ourselves of our materialistic stuff and go back to nature. The things we do can be so petty sometimes - we are too busy comparing ourselves to each other rather than finding a way to coexist. Too bad humans have come to a point where they have to "find" this way.
