Here I go whining about my health again:( Nobody will want to read this, but here goes! I was put on lisinopril for high blood pressure, about a month ago. The medication that I was taking, wasn't working to keep it down. After a short while, I started coughing at night, which is something I've never had a problem with before. I called my doctor this morning and she's calling in a new medication for me to take. Good grief, when will all of this bologna with my blood pressure, come to a complete halt? This is the third medicine they've tried, to keep it down! Thanks, for letting me vent out, today

High Blood Pressure is serious, yet it's taken so lightly by doctors.

@kobesbuddy Are you seeing your regular doctor or a cardiologist? Mine is treated by my cardiologist. He knows exactly which medicines are best for high BP.

@NJChicaa They have done an EKG on me, every year. I have mitral-valve prolapse, which in itself, isn't considered a heart condition. Instead, it's blood leaking back into the upper chamber of my heart. The high blood pressure is being treated by my regular doctor, after being in the ER twice in six months. My BP was 230/120

I am not sure if it would be effective to you. Sometimes I drink ginger tea to ease up from coughing.

@kobesbuddy Exactly why I quit taking meds that were supposed to get my ankles to quit swelling. I tend toward lower blood pressure. The meds that helped with the swollen ankles and feet also lowered my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Now I deal with it myself by keeping away from salty foods. My ankles are not perfect but better.

@sallypup We had a lady at the assisted living home, her B.P. would drop so low, she'd fall on the floor!

I had a chronic cough with a BP medication called "Varapamil". Now I take Lisinopril and don't cough at all. Strange how medications affect different people in different ways.

Right now I'm on lisinopril, but it's not working that good. I have mitral valve prolapse, but I'm unsure if it might tie in with this problem.
