Hello all I need to vent

I will start at the beginning. I am at loose ends here. My cat is good at jumping down to places but jumping back up to our porch is hard for her. The first times she was younger and she jumped down to the porch below us. The people just moved in and the guy was home alone. He did not know me so had to go through another neighbor for him to open the porch door for me to pick her up and take her home. It was so quiet in here so I called her and she did not answer or come out of where she was. I went to sleep a little bit and could not sleep because it was too quiet without her. I thought she ran away. I decided to go out on the porch and found her. She was not on our porch but there is this house in front of our building and the people do not want to move or tear it down. It is very weird. Well, their roof is slanted and my cat I guess first jumped down to the porch below and then onto the roof. People tried to help me get her down but she is very afraid. I called to ask them to come but they do not come in the evening and have to wait till morning. I have to go out and will be home later in the morning and who knows when they will come. I tried to put food at a spot to get her to come down and put the garbage bin upside down for her to come down but she was afraid. I told her to go on the porch of the ones below and I would ask them to open the door to let me get her. They have a baby. The guy is very helpful and nice but she must have had a trauma in her life and she refused to let me get her. So, my cat went back on the roof and is probably feeling abandoned all over again and I do not much feel like sleeping. All I wanted to do was pick her up and bring her home. She is all I have and I am very frustrated so I came here to vent. I will go sit on the porch and watch that she is ok. I am just very frustrated and wanted to come here and share. Thank you.

Patsie, so I should try and explain to the police that she will not let me get my cat. The police will just laugh in my face and not care. It is her home but she does not see my side also. I am only suppose to see her side. She could care less if I get sleep or not or if I can get my cat home. Now, I believe she is sleeping on their porch inside the door and nothing I can do to get her out. I have to try and coax her to come down on the ground or she is stuck there or if she goes back on the roof then can call for help if she stays there. I have to find someone who can help me teach her not to do those things anymore. I need a person that teaches those things or find a way for her not to jump off our porch. She has a problem jumping back up again.

@bunnybon7 Thanks bonnie and I thought of that. It is winter here in Israel so I will have to ask someone what suggestions she has. I already thought of that when I was trying to get her back. I cannot let her be outside in this weather at all.

i am so sorry. i had to get a neighbor to get a ladder once and take up food to get my cat to come to him. another time the policeman was nice enough to do it even though he had been told this was not a job he had to do. keep calling and reaching out to people. there may be a good person out there that will help. maybe he has already come down?

bonnie, thanks. She was too frightened to come down. She knows how to jump down and cannot get back up. Different people lived there before and she jumped down to their porch. They just moved in and the husband was home and he did not know me so I had to call ones in the building and then he let me in to get her. He did not behave the lady did. They would not going to listen to me and the sad thing was she threatened me with the police and I was just lucky it was ones that were sympathetic to my cause and since it took them so long to open the door they saw for themselves how they were. She was hysterical when I knocked on their door earlier just to get my cat out. What makes me so mad is that they were warm inside for their baby but my cat had to sit outside I really do not know how I would have gotten her home if I did not call the police. That was by accident that I called them.

It sounds frustrating. But I hope you can find ways to change its behavior.

@Hannihar No problem, my friend. I think we are here to support each other. We may not have it in the real world. At least, we can have the support system virtually.

Shavkat, it is very frustrating because as long as those people live there I have to find a way when the weather gets nice to keep her from jumping down there. Thank you so much for your kind words all the time and your support too. That means a lot to me.

@Shavkat Shavkat, you are so right about not having it in the real world. It really means that I can come here say what I want and there are those that will support me and you are one of them. Thank you so much.

I'm so sorry your neighbor wouldn't let you come get your cat. I did read the comment you left me and know she's back with you now, and that makes me happy.

@Hannihar Have you considered keeping her inside as a house cat?

Thanks so much Valerie. You are always so kind and supportive and I appreciate that. Now, the weather is turning cold and rainy so glad she is safe inside and I have to figure out how to keep her from jumping down. As long as they live there I will never get her back if she does it again and I cannot bother the police.

@just4him Valerie, she is a house cat. She doesn't go out accept when she wants to jump down to places. She goes out on the porch and out in the hallway of our floor but outside no.

I feel so sorry for you. You must be at your wits' end. In fact you say you are don't you? Hopefully she will eventually manage to get herself down. I do hope so.

@Hannihar I wonder what on earth is wrong with the woman. In Australia, if a cat gets stuck up the tree they call the fire brigade and they will come and get them down. At least they used to. I do hope you're able to figure something out.

She was very afraid when I tried to coax her and that lady would not let me get her. I had to find help that would and now I have to figure out how to get her from not jumping on the roof or down on their porch. They will not let me get her again. The lady was hysterical and crying and they put the heat on because they have a baby but my Sophie was stuck outside and I could not figure out myself how to get her down from there.

@Hannihar I'm so pleased that at least you have your cat. It is strange how some people are so scared of animals. Will you try to keep Sophie inside now? JJ (do you know him on myLot?) keeps Scar on a lead.to keep him safe.

@JamesHxstatic I closed the door to the porch and want to take it easy today and be here with her. I will probably have to find a solution so do not have to try and get her to come down from anything again except the counters here in our home. Thanks James.

I didn't sleep but am rescheduling the appointment I have and am tired. I want to be with my cat. It makes me so sad how cruel people can be. If I did not do what I did I may never see my cat again and she would freeze on their porch.

Most cats, if left alone will come down. Sometimes you just need to give them time.

Morley I will try that. I will go back out at 6 am and see the situation. I may have to change the appointment I have to later this month. She was out there all night and that is not nice letting her sit out in the cold when she could have been inside her home. I had to get help to get my cat or otherwise on my own I may never have gotten her. She was very frightened and could have felt abandoned.
