A Rare Appearance from Smooch the Cat

In his younger days Smooch the Cat was more obliging, happy to pose for photo shots I could use online. For a while there he was quite a star on the various sites I've frequented in the past.
Now he's feeling his age. We're not sure how old he is, but we estimate it about 17. Not bad for an old cat. And now he's happier sleeping and being left alone. Except when there's a bird in sight. He still has hunting in his blood and brings home the occasional present to impress us.
I tried taking a photo of Smooch today, especially for @LadyDuck as she has been a fan of Smooch for many years. But he wasn't at all interested. He's feeling the heat in our early New Zealand summer and just wanted to be left alone.
But here he is, Smooch the Cat, making a rare appearance especially for any who remember him from days gone by.

Neat and always have a thing for animals, people who are low key like that. He sure sounds like a legend in his own right. This guy was my legend. Not quite low key like that, but indeed very down to earth like that. Was kind of mean, but was really a big softy once he warmed up to you. He is the one with the crrooked ear and was 13 and why the young female looks the way she does. She was scared of him because we just got her and he was unsure about her.

i smiled when i got to the part about birds. go smooch!
i notice that cats prefer the soil when it's hot. some even climb into clay pots and curl around the plant.

@TheInvisibleMan I just don't like my photo taken any more. I'm not as young as I used to be! But if my Mum has anything to do with it I'll make another appearance again soon. As long as she doesn't expect me to have adventures she can write about.

When they get older like that, they are mostly content to watch the world go by. My cat is 8 and has gotten a bit crochety..I can't wait until he is 18...not! Hopefully he will sleep alot..

He's so cute. I love the white paws and the way the stripes start higher on his legs. Am I turning into a cat lover?
