Extortion and Robbery is rampant this christmas

Philippines

If Uber or Grab remains under suspension it's advantage to the Taxi drivers...Not to mention others will extort and ask more than the meter price. And it happened to a tourist who wanted simply want to visit a mall. The price is only 10$ on the meter but the driver asked for 18$ more. Another incident is a group of Jap tourist who came down from their van and this tourist back pack was quickly robbed by a certain guy. With out CCTV you wouldn't believe how fast he was. I think if people knew you were giving this season, they will abuse it. So be more careful if you are travelling to another country, like mine.

We are facing a lot of problems with our cab drivers. Cabs like Uber and Ola have drivers who misbehave with women. It is better to own a vehicle and drive.

The last driver was merciless and asked me for a dollar more and the distance wasn't even that far @vandana7

Our daughter-in-law uses Uber and so far, no problems. It is wise to be careful at all times no matter the country, I would think.

Hello @Corbin5 that's true but in my country it has become very obvious now specially if the media doesn't report it.

Great information you have given out to people there and thank you as I would not like to see anyone robbed at all wherever they are. We have those kind of problems now with Uber and Grab also and other ordinary Taxi Drivers too.

Hello @lovinangelsinstead21 I think these people were just not careful on putting their money. It's shame these cab drivers doesn't hesitate to extort their passengers.

I was taken advantage of in London by an unscrupulous cab driver but he was not licensed and I was naive in those days, today I know better.

Hello @BelleStarr I didn't realize unlicensed cab drivers can do that even in London, so unbelievable.

@Letranknight2015 Oh yes they have no meter and overcharge terribly. Now, this was 20 years ago, some things might have changed but I suspect not.

I'm sure your country isn't the only one taking advantage of shoppers this time of year.

Hello @just4him Yes and for sure there are worst but this kind of mischief expands on other countries they live or work into.

Hello @misunderstood_zombie It happens even after christmas and every chance they get. However, with Christmas they take advantage of the situation.

It is a shame that criminals become more active at times like Christmas. I don't think we'll be going near any crowded places.

Hello @JudyEv That's the same thing with me, even with fast food chains I never go with the over crowded area, you never know if they are lurking.

Christmas season is really the time for these people to scam or steal from others who are hard-work earners.
