Extortion and Robbery is rampant this christmas

If Uber or Grab remains under suspension it's advantage to the Taxi drivers...Not to mention others will extort and ask more than the meter price. And it happened to a tourist who wanted simply want to visit a mall. The price is only 10$ on the meter but the driver asked for 18$ more.
Another incident is a group of Jap tourist who came down from their van and this tourist back pack was quickly robbed by a certain guy. With out CCTV you wouldn't believe how fast he was.
I think if people knew you were giving this season, they will abuse it.
So be more careful if you are travelling to another country, like mine.

Great information you have given out to people there and thank you as I would not like to see anyone robbed at all wherever they are.
We have those kind of problems now with Uber and Grab also and other ordinary Taxi Drivers too.

Hello @lovinangelsinstead21 I think these people were just not careful on putting their money. It's shame these cab drivers doesn't hesitate to extort their passengers.

Its a lottery here at the moment really and you can never know what kind of driver you are going to pick up and how much he could rob you of or not.

I was taken advantage of in London by an unscrupulous cab driver but he was not licensed and I was naive in those days, today I know better.

@Letranknight2015 Oh yes they have no meter and overcharge terribly. Now, this was 20 years ago, some things might have changed but I suspect not.
