Unfrozen Creek

Ah, yes, today was supposed to have a high in the low 30's, with a bitter wind chill Instead, it's a nice, sunny day with a slight breeze. It was cold last night, however, enough that it froze parts of the creek behind us. By the time I got my phone, the ice had all been melted by the sun. So here's a photo of the creek, sans ice.

That happens here too in our Chicago suburb. Frozen water in the dog's outdoor dish, she has an indoor dish too, and the sun comes out and melts the ice in the outdoor dish in no time flat.

@teamfreak16 In January and February the lakes in the parks here freeze over, but not that big old Lake Michigan since the wind and the waves keep Lake Michigan from freezing over. On a few occasions it has been about 90% frozen, but not totally. The waves that hit the shore freeze up a bit making a nice line of frozen stuff, though. We skated on the lakes in the parks here in the suburbs in winter. Never fell through.

@Corbin5 - That would be fun. If I could skate.

I like little creeks. I've never seen a frozen one.

I think it might be colder here. Not sure about your winter.

@teamfreak16 We get a few days with frost but that's about it for cold. I now know not to complain about our 'cold' as it is nothing to what some myLotters experience.

@JudyEv - Places like Minnesota, Michigan, East Coast, they all have very bad, cold winters.

We have a lake in our town which usually freezes over in January. One time I saw these kids walk out onto the ice and fall into the lake. Fortunately for them it was only waist deep, but those kids had to be cold! I guess you will be getting some snow soon...

I don't know. Cold again tomorrow, then back to the 50's again. I'll take that in November.

We never have frozen creeks here, but we're lucky to have any water in our creeks at all (we did this year thanks to last winter's rain).

I've lived here so long that I'm used to the cold. But I would love hot weather year round.

@teamfreak16 I could say the same, but a bit backwards. I lived here so long that I'm used to the heat . . . but I would love gray, gloomy cooler days year round.

We had some ice forming on the river this morning. It'll happen soon enough.

I'd figure you get lots of ice in Canada.

@teamfreak16 It's coming. I'm surprised we haven't had a real snowstorm yet.

How lovely to have that near your home--It looks like a good spot to fish. Those weather people, or should I say computers, get it wrong a lot.

I've honestly never seen a fish in there, although you would think there would be.

Thank you. It seriously took about twenty minutes to melt.
