Last night, I introduced this music series, focusing on bands from Manchester, England, a city from which I've never heard a band I haven't liked. So let's get this going, starting with #10: Lamb. Consisting of producer Andy Barlow and vocalist Lou Rhodes (she has such a pretty voice,) Lamb is an electronica/trip hop group that formed in 1996. Best known for their hit (#30 in the UK,) "Gorecki" (inspired by Henryk Gorecki's Third Symphony,) Lamb signed a six record deal with Mercury Records based upon the strength of just three songs. You might recognize "Gorecki" if you saw the movie Moulin Rouge! (Nicole Kidman sang the tune in the movie.) I've linked to a live, 2003 performance of "Gorecki," filmed in Glastonbury. Enjoy! Not a fan of Electronica but I guess The Smiths could reappear on your Manchester band list?

Yeah, they aren't really popular outside of electronic music. I don't think it's gotten much play.

How the hell our we supposed to remember all these names for music. Pretty song though. It was unique and different which I always like. Groundbreaking if anyone ever looked at that type of thing again. Just sell what sells, not what could sell for decades to come and could possibly change or at the very least make a culture better.

That song traverses a number of styles. You think it’s going to be a ballad, and then BANG! Good tune, thanks for the introduction.
