80s new wave mania: "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" Boys Don't Cry (1986)

He’s called T-T-T-T-T-Trigger of course”
Thus goes one of the oddest of new wave one hit wonders. The British group was founded in 1983 by Nick Richards (vocals, keyboards) and discovered by noted producer Paul Oakenfeld who was then a talent scout. “I Wanna be a Cowboy” is like a musical parody of spaghetti westerns sung in deadpan fashion by Richards. The “highlight” is an unknown woman speaking:
“His name is Ted
Can you believe that?
Camping on the prairie
plays havoc with my hair”
The video featured a cameo by Motorhead’s Lemmy. Boys Don’t Cry broke up in 1988 and reunited in 2009.

This was played on alternative radio not mainstream so even if you had been around it's doubtful you would have heard it.

The only alternative group back in the day I ever really liked was The Cars. I was crazy about them. I also like Green Day.

Well that was one amusing song. I don't wanna be a cowgirl but I will take a look at what else they have. While I was traveling the net I ran across this silly ditty. Do you know these guys and this crazy Christmas song?
