Movie review: "Astronaut's Wife"

I recently watched a movie called "The Astronauts Wife" with Johnny Depp. It's sort of funny. My friend and I had gotten together with another friend of ours - who is a huge Johnny Depp fan. She didn't watch the movie with us, we were just inspired to pick it after hanging out with her. Neither of us are huge fans of Depp.
Anyway, with only a short couple sentences of info about the movie, I had thought it was going to be a relationship drama.
An Astronaut comes back from a mission and changes in his personality cause hardships with his relationship with his wife.
So I thought it would be a slow moving domestic drama. Space jock comes back tense. Husband and wife fight. Husband and wife make up. Space jock gets therapy. And they all live happily ever after.
Nope.
I would file this under Sci-fi/Psychological thriller.
*Spoiler Alert*
The movie makes you wonder if the wife has gone crazy or if the husband really has been inhabited by an outer space entity.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, though in my opinion blonde is not a great look on Depp - not that it matters.

Me neither.... he;s alright, tends to choose interesting roles , there were a lot of twists and turns in the movie

@just4him I forget what (audio) book it was .... but I remember listening along - there wasn't really much action until the last little bit --- and then everything I thought was going to play out was completely different. It really improved my opinion of the book.... too bad I can't remember the title

@DianneN Oh I see.... he was accused of battering his ex-wife recently I know... I'm not sure what to make of it. It is sad if he did - but it could be her word against his word too ? I don't know.

I find JD a bit hit and miss. Some tings he does I enjoy but others are just too weird

I think I had heard of this movie but never watched it. I like thriller so it might be something I'd like to watch.

I loved this movie from the first time I saw it in the 90's, and I'm always surprised at the low ratings it received. I thought Johnny Depp looked amazing in the movie, and though his hair was blond, he looked good.
