Iconic Signs In Your City??

Here in Toronto an institution for many of us growing up was " Sam The Record Man " While the store closed years ago the big Neon Sign was preserved and stored and it was just resurrected and installed at Ryerson University in Yonge/Dundas Square ( Toronto's Times Square? ) to light up the sky again! While I know many of you "kids" don't know what a record even is, This sign brings back fond memories of getting my allowance and going to the record store on the weekend to put down .75 cents for a 45 rpm record. What about Iconic signs in your city?...Does any stir up fond memories from your past ?

The most iconic sign in my neck of the woods would be the Hollywood sign.

It was a sight for sore eyes...bright and gawdy at street level, but it announced I was downtown!... Did you ever see the Honest Eds Sign Laurel? ....here...I've attached it...It was dismantled earlier this year and the store closed last December.

You mention of 45s stirred up some fond memories. What was my first--maybe "White Room" by Cream? We have iconic bridges here in the Bay Area.

My father used to say after he gave my allowance to me " Make sure it doesn't burn a hole in your pocket ! "

@Luap1050 Haha. I had to wait to get a chance to spend mine and it was just about burning a hole in my pocket by the time I got to a shop.

@Luap1050 I'm sure it was some "serious scratch," like maybe $5.
