Well fed Wednesdays

My image is a breakfast buffet from the internet, but it fits. In the month of December school is keeping me well fed. This past Wednesday the Parent Advisory Council (like PTA) provided a selection of soups and desserts for all the building staff here at school. Then Thursday the Principal brought sodas and candy for all teaching staff. Next Wednesday the school district office is hosting a luncheon for the staff, again, soups, sides and desserts. Last year it was really good. Wednesday, the 20th of December is a half day. It is pajama day. The Special Education Teachers are preparing a breakfast for the Paraeducators that work with them. It is a good month to enjoy.

Sodas and candy? Not very nutricious.

They reward a lot of things and people with candy. I need to avoid it. I will admit, though, that when I am congested a soda seems to help my throat and chest. I could have sparkling water just as well, though. No sugar.

Just don't check your blood sugar levels if you are diabetic.

I am diabetic. Most of the food, especially the soups and fresh fruits and veggies are healthy. If I am going to splurge, the middle of the day is the best time of day I am told.

@sallypup Even before I was diabetic I became weary of rewarding ourselves with food. At work, at school, at church, you name it. It becomes "we live to eat" instead of "we eat to live."

@GardenGerty My hubby is diabetic, too. He gets sick of all the sugar treats that are dished up as rewards when he goes to work.

Interesting Pajmaday. In north India pajma is the daily wearing of the people.

I know. Around here it is mostly jeans and slacks. I love how the beautiful clothes of India look.

@shshiju No, I do not often see men in traditional clothes from India. I do see women with beautiful, modest, colorful clothes.

I gained two pounds since Halloween, according to the scale at the Dr.'s office when I went to get my cough, etc. checked out. I hope to lose them and a few more by my next diabetic check in at the end of January. Soups and veggies should help with that.

Actually the soups are not necessarily fattening, but I do have to watch out about the candy.

Do you really wear a pajama with no underwear?

No, I do not think any of the kids do, and mostly the teachers wear things like large T shirts and leggings or sweat pants. I never see anyone who looks like no underwear. IF I do it, I will wear leggings and a loose shirt, maybe with a house coat instead of a coat.
