One Big Screw Up

Does anyone ever feel as if they can't do anything right? as if all they ever do is screw up and make mistakes? I have had moments like that. I am my own worst critic. When I know I have let God down, I really come down hard on myself. Thankfully we serve a God who is bigger than our mistakes and weaknesses. Now that doesn't give us a license to go on a sinning rampage, but it does mean that God can forgive, restore, and empower us for good when we confess our sins. As much as I loath myself when I do wrong, I love my Savior even more for being a God of second and third and fourth, chances. God's mercy and grace: that's a reason to rejoice.

When we refuse to forgive ourselves, we are refusing God's free grace. It is always good to be reminded.

Yes, and no. Or else The Prodigal Son could've stayed away from home, reformed his ways, and grown to an independent power equal-to or greater-than his father's. But no. Even though The Father forgave him (welcomed him back to life on the farm, even though he had every right to treat him as 'one of the slaves'), The Prodigal Son had to live with the fact that he'd given up his birthright and no longer had any future but 'as a dependant on his Father's- and soon his brother's-farm.'
