80s new wave mania: "She Blinded Me With Science" Thomas Dolby (1982)

Thomas Dolby was an electronic keyboard synthpop wizard who enjoyed popularity on alternative radio in the 80s. His biggest hit “She Blinded Me with Science” crossed over into the mainstream reaching Billboard #5. The London native was born Thomas Robertson and nicknamed Dolby after the sound equipment system. “She Blinded Me with Science” was written by Dolby and Jo Kerr and appeared on the EP “Blinded by Science.” Here is something I never knew. Dolby wrote “She Blinded Me with Science” to fit a video concept he conceived. The video was about a home for deranged scientists which he directed and produced. Dolby’s other well known songs are “Europa and the Pirate Twins,” “One of Our Submarines” and “Hyperactive!” A later project was Dolby’s Cube which did the title track to the infamous movie bomb “Howard the Duck.”
