Distribution of rice to poor people has started since many years ago. Low-priced markets are sometimes offered to the community (rich and poor are given the opportunity to do the shopping there). Another way of helping the poor is also done by giving small amount of money to poor families once in three months. Problems arose as there were complaints as regard to being not only poor but also rich families have access to getting the money. Who qualifies for the amount? It all depends on the honesty of the officials in charge. Mostly poor have their right to get it. In your countries, there must be some ways the government do to help those in need of help.

Yes, our government pays a sort of indemnity to those who have no work and are in need. They also have food stamps.

@yanzalong Those who are in need are eligible for food stamps. Yes, they have to fill forms to explain the reasons why they need the food stamps.

I know corruption is widespread in some countries which makes it hard to get money and goods where they are most needed. I don't corruption is quite so bad in Australia.

Especially in developing countries. I thought Australia was much cleaner one.

@yanzalong It is certainly very much better than some. You don't often hear of any corruption.

In our country this practice of distributing food to the poor has been politicize. You will find these bags of food printed with "Donated by congressman..." Usually during election campaigns.

So sad that the rich people even want it. Greed always rules it seems.
