Favorite "Real People" Songs #2 - "Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem"

It's always fun when we do these concurrently, and this time, both @FourWalls and I are doing a music series of songs with real people in the title. I am at #2: "Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem" by Peter Murphy. Peter Murphy often shows up in my countdowns, both as a solo artist and as the vocalist of goth legends Bauhaus. "Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem" is the 4th track on Murphy's most successful solo album, 1989's Deep. It was not released as a single, but remains a fan favorite. At least part of the lyrics are thought to be an answer to Suzanne Vega's song "Marlene on the Wall." I've been trying to use live versions as much as possible, but this is quite possibly the most beautiful piece of music that I've ever heard. A live version simply doesn't do it justice. I know Peter Murphy of course but never heard this song before. I hope most of the folks here know who Dietrich was.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the second best song on the album after "Cuts You Up."
