Coffee Exploded In The Microwave

Yes, I got coffee all over the microwave at work the other day. What a mess. A client wanted coffee. I didn’t think it was hot enough in the coffee pot. So once in a while, I put it in the microwave for 30-50 seconds. This time I left the lid on. That wasn’t a good idea. The coffee lid puffed up. I had a mess to clean up. It wasn’t fun at all.

Gotta love the explosions in the microwave....if nothing else..we usually give the microwave a good cleaning afterwards.

Microwaves are dangerous when you are a bit absent-minded, I have had a few fine explosions too.

#topffer I think that was the first time that I didn't take the plastic lid off.

Uh oh. Well you have to be so careful what materials you put in a microwave, I know it's easy to forget what is okay in there. I'm sorry that happened, I've done many of what I call "domestic felonies" lol.

@kobesbuddy Me too. I think that was the only time I left the lid on. Won't do that again.

30 seconds are really excessive for a microwave oven! I warm up the coffee in 10 seconds!

I nearly had a disaster when heating up clam chowder for a client. Of course milk expands and tends to boil over when it is overheated. Good thing I watched it as it was heating! Any mess in a microwave is a mess that I don't like to clean up.

It happened to me once I think, but it wasn't coffee. I'm always worried about reheating food/beverage containers in the microwave unless I see a microwave-safe label on it.
