Fellas!!! Not Enough Snow!!

We had a dusting of snow the other day. I was surprised to see our suburb's plow trucks going up and down the street plowing a few flakes here and there. Perhaps the drivers of those trucks were honing their snow-plowing skills. Perhaps the drivers were testing those huge trucks, with the big plow in front, to determine if the trucks were in good working order. Perhaps the drivers were bored and decided to go for a little drive along the suburban streets. Maybe all those drivers were going to a snow-plowing meeting. It could be that the drivers were having a snow-plowing race. Sure looked like a big waste of time, gas, and manpower to me. Photo: The dusting of snow on our patio.

That does seem ridiculous.

I thought it rather absurd. A broom would suffice.

They have to justify both their pay and the fact they are being out there at all.

Well, I am wondering why they were sent out in the first place. The city clears the streets, so maybe it was a practice run.

That seems pointless to me too. What do they put on the roads to keep them from getting slippery? In NY they use salt and its eats the vehicles. Here in PA they use calcium chloride I believe and its not good for cars but not as damaging as the salt.

They use salt here, but there was no need for salt at all, and there was no need to use the plows. Maybe they were practicing, but what a waste of gas.

@Corbin5 They aren't there, yet, but my son will check the house this week. I hope he doesn't keep the snow plowing or lack of snow plowing a secret.

At least you have snowploughs! I like to think they were just cruising the area, simply showing off their big snow moving trucks.

How to say: how to steal the salary! If true, they should only be ashamed, when there are people like me who have neither a job!

Hopefully they don't spend too much out of the snow budget on days like that, there will be plenty of days that you'll need it, and even if you don't a surplus is always nice too.

I am hoping they were practicing. They do a fine job here, so maybe that practice day will pay off.

They were levelling the pavement...didn't you know. It's good to do that every now and again. It gets rid of the bumps.

It doesn't look like they needed to do much, but maybe they were making sure they were ready for a real snow fall. =)

I heard there's a snow-plowing convention in your town, next weekend! Carnival rides, candied apples, game booths, the whole gammit!

Molly loves the snow. She even likes to sleep in the snow. Hard to get her to come inside when snow is on the ground.

@Hannihar She has a doggy door that allows her to go in and out of the house to the fenced backyard day and night. Sometimes she will stay out there when it is snowing, and we have a white dog rather than a black one.

We will be getting more snow tomorrow. I did notice some plowing the other day and I didn't think there was enough in the store parking lot to really have the trucks out clearing them out. But there is now!

Well, maybe it is a test to determine if the trucks are in good working order. So far, I hope we will miss the snow. The weather report states we will not have snow, just snow showers, but ya never know.

I agree. The plows made really loud scraping sounds due to no snow to scrape.
