They Are So Stupid

Last month I asked my primary doctor to refer me to UC Davis to get a second opinion about having surgery. I specifically asked to go there because they are one of the best hospitals in the state, and they have a gynecological oncologist on staff. Most places don't have gyn-oncologists, that's why I currently have to travel 3 hours away to Berkeley to see mine. UC Davis is closer to home and I was hoping I could have my surgery there. Well, my insurance won't send me there because they are outside of my network, but they decided I could see a gynecologist either through Rideout (the local hospital system -- which, I might add, is horrible) or in Oroville, which is a half an hour away from here. The problem? Neither is the type of specialist I need to see for my specific issue. So it is just going to be a huge waste of time. I chose to go with the doctor in Oroville, since I know for a fact that Rideout has no gynecological oncologist (if they did, I would have been sent there to begin with.) There's a very slim possibility the one in Oroville will be qualified to treat my issue, but I doubt it. I swear, my insurance company is so stupid. They can't comprehend my medical problems and just send me wherever without caring if the person is qualified to treat the issue or not. Earlier this year (before I got the referral to the guy in Berkeley) they tried to send me to an abortion specialist at a Planned Parenthood clinic. For a complex surgery to treat severe endometriosis that has my reproductive organs glued to my bowel...Yeah. Morons.

Thanks. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful I have insurance and can go to the doctor -- because in the past I couldn't. It just sucks that they don't always provide appropriate care and try to send me to specialists that aren't even the ones I need to see.

@LovingMyBabies I'm sorry you also have to deal with this sort of thing with your children. That makes it worse in my opinion, that insurances make it difficult for children to receive appropriate healthcare!

This is a horrible way to treat their customers. You need a specialist and they should know better. Where is the purpose to pay an insurance not to get the service we need.

@Srbageldog I agree, they increase their premiums every year and you do not eve get a good service from them.

Exactly. All they care about is money. They don't care about actually providing appropriate healthcare for anyone.

With insurance companies it seems they are all about the money. Never seem to care about the quality of treatment that their clients receive.

Exactly. They don't want to pay for anything, even when the service is supposed to be covered by them.

That is just complicated and those people from insurance only cares about MONEY. And when the time comes that you needed serious help they just toss you out there to who knows who and were? I hope you get the right staff to deal with your health situation. Glad I stopped paying my insurance, they were both scams over here.

You are right, all they care about is money! They don't care about our well-being at all. Thank you, I hope so too. It has been so frustrating dealing with all of this.

If I need a hysterectomy, a regular gyn might be able to do it...but they can't remove my fallopian tubes, since they are glued to my bowel and that requires complex surgery to remove it. Once that stuff is all taken care of, a regular gyn can probably take over treating it.
