What is Christmas without fruit cakes?

Christmas, friends, gifts, fruit cake

When my family and relatives have scattered into the world, Christmas have become less of a gathering together and simply turned into a quiet, blessed day of celebrating the Birth of our Lord. Few things remain, such as the carols and the feast on the table. Ham, queso de bola, fruit salad or chicken macaroni. But in the years I was rearing my children, I added a favorite: the fruit cake. The fruit cake soon became my favorite gift to friends and neighbors. I have already given one to a listening friend at the mall. She marveled when I gave it to her early enough. Ha ha. Said I might not find my way again at her mall before Christmas. Christmas is making your littlest friends feel happy and blessed. What do you give on Christmas?

I am not a very likable person, actually. Most people find me too strong or too frank, too upfront for the liking. Don't tell anyone, I give out fruit cakes so neighbors will like me a little. I am not as successful. But I give gifts still anyway.

Wow. That is the expensive gift. A friend charged me Php400 for nine pieces in a box. That was three years ago, Do you make the cupcakes your self?

Discovered a long time ago that people do not actually mind whatever gift we give them, so long as they are remembered and they receive something warm the heart. Sending you my warmest hugs. If only I can send you boxes and boxes fruit cakes, I would. One day, perhaps, when any of my friends are Spain bound, I will ask them to knock on your door. Hope springs eternal, lovingangelsinstead21, Someone up there might grant my wish. Blessings to you this Christmas.

Wow. That is an advantage, having a mother and a sibling who can really prepare fruit cakes. In my country, your family would be filled with orders.

Fruit cakes can be expensive to make nowadays. I don't have many to buy for any more.

I believe one box is around $3. I actually save up so I could buy more boxes for the gift-giving season.

I lie a good fruitcake unfortunately they are far and few. If you find a brand that is superior you need to keep buying from them.

@HazySue The best tasting and most reasonable price. One neighbor kept all the fruit cake greeting cards I gave him in his wallet. Whenever I bump into him, he would bring the cards out, his way of telling me that he likes one again on Christmas. He passed away in September of this year but I will see to it his widow gets a warm casserole of stuffed chicken or stuffed fish this Christmas Eve.
