The year like years in the past we got a benefits raise for Social Security. 2 percent is what they call being equal with the cost of living this is wrong in my view I think the cost of things have went up a lot more then 2 percent. The way these people are going in Government they come plan about people being on government assistance but not trying to help people get and be independent. To show you how unfair this is a 7 hundred dollar social security check at 2 percent cola is on 14 dollars what is that going to make a difference when milk and meat and medicines have went up in price it seems like double this.

At least you are getting a pretty good social security. Here in Latvia people get very little and they get very little added to it and many cannot manage. It is always best when two people are together when retired. Pensions here are decided on the same for all people at their particular earning level. Hard to explain but we have people here who worked at jobs that they made minimal wage on and their weekly pension is 70 Euro or 82 U.S. These people have long complained that they cannot make it through all of their payments. At least for a couple it is more. Those at mid range get something like 300 and even that is not enough.

This is what social security told me other places in the world does have the choice and the benefits we do but if you lived in the united states you would understand you need to have something to live someone here its expensive here

@bigshow9773 I will have the chance to find that out. I lost my husband in August and I am all alone. I need to sell my house here and my stuff and then I will be returning to my homeland the U.S. I will need to work for another 10 years since I worked there for 8 before I came here. So I will find out how expensive is expensive.

I think that people that are able to work should work. You are in the right age Gap to still be working.
