Hi there I am back from my 3 week holiday and it has been full on since my return. This is the first real opportunity I have had since coming back to log on and try to catch up with some posts. I hope all my acquaintances on Mylot are well and nothing too disastrous has happened and you are all well and dandy? I have returned to work where we are extremely busy and it is hard trying to catch up with the backlog although I estimate by the end of Monday I will be up to speed with everything and hopefully things will settle down a little bit. Sadly my daughter and her family have been sick since I returned so we have been busy with them on top of that trying to get on top of Christmas and all the trappings that go with that. On Saturday I went Christmas shopping buying gifts and the job I detest most is wrapping them. Oh boy what a waste of time and effort. While wiling away the six and a half hours it took me to wrap the gifts I remembered my grandmother. She was a very nice lady who was wise in my eyes. She always without fail bought us gifts for different occasions throughout the year but she never ever wrapped the gifts up! She would always present us with out gift just in the bag it came from the shop where she bought it. She deemed it a great waste of time, effort and unnecessary expense. I guess I have got her thoughts on the matter firmly stuck in my brain. I find it such a chore to wrap them and after six hours of cutting, wrapping and sticking the paper around the gifts I was at the point of giving up the will to live. Just as I finished I found another three gifts to wrap. I am pleased to say it is done and dusted now. We celebrate Christmas in the traditional way with church attendance for Midnight mass, Matins in the morning and then the celebrations can begin and the indulgence of over eating and doing very little will begin. Of course there is the Queen's speech broadcast at 3PM on Christmas day which we tend to watch. She has probably already recorded it. There will be 7 guests for Christmas and my daughter and our grandchildren will be here on Christmas day! A nice four day break from work for me which is always welcome! Have you got Christmas organised and under control? The photo is of Willemstad the capital city of CuraƧao. Despite nice blue skies and it being hot it seemed odd for me to see a Christmas tree!

What about gift bags? That's much easier than wrapping and they have such cute and lovely designs available. That's what I'm doing this year.

Welcome back. If you detest the time it takes to wrap a gift..why do you do it? I like to use gift bags...I have multiple sizes...no fuss no bother and they are reusable,,

as others have said - gift bags. they come in all sizes, add ribbons if you like, then just tape the card. they are also reusable, if you chose colors/designs that can be all age/all occasion. oh, you'll be surprised at the decorations you'll see here.

Welcome back Gary, I never visited Willemstad. Our plane always made a stop there going from Sint.Maarten to Amsterdam, but we never paid a visit. It looks a lot like Aruba. We spent a couple of Christmas in the Caribbeans, I missed the cold and the snow.

Don't any of the stores in that area wrap presents for purchasers? It might be worth spending a little more and getting the gift wrapped. I use gift bags these days, so much easier. lol

My mother fusses that I don't wrap gifts. I put them in gift bags. This year I had to order some because she throw away all my gift bags. I have all my shopping done. I'm thinking about next years gifts though.

@garymarsh6 Hi Gary...what are the countries you visited?Got any new friends? If so, which countries they are from? Getting new friends does not mean to forget the friends on myLot. Ok. I am happy you successfully completed your tour and returned with a lot of vigor and enthusiasm. I am keeping fine and enjoying the day.

You seem to travel quite a bit. I get what you mean about the time and expense it takes to gift wrap - but they do look nice under the tree. A few times I have used the nicely decorated gift bags - but when thinking of using those the size and kind of gift would have to be considered.

One young member of my family wished to have her own photo album, and I sort of promised her a few years back that I would organize it for her. Well, I still have almost 10 days more to do that, right? Other than that, I paid a young family member, a teenager, to be my assistant this year in searching for gifts and gift wrapping. She loves spending money on my behalf, and has been extremely pleased with the task.

I'm glad you have all the wrapping done. I can see you have a bit of your grandmother in you. The picture is very good and I can see why it would look strange to have a Christmas tree in the square when it's so warm. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
