That was an experience

I decided to listen to some new music today, I like to do this weekly but sometimes I just forget or don't feel like listening to new music. I just listened to the live album of Ghost B. C. Ceremony and Devotion that was created in San Francisco. I haven't listened to must of Ghost B. C. before besides Square Hammer which is like one of their most popular songs, so it as kind of fun listening to a live album before actually diving into the band's regular stuff. Now I know there is a much of controversy and legal stuff happening with Ghost, so we don't talk about that. But really, the music is quite enjoyable! I could tell people were really having fun at the show and I normally hate live albums, but this actually sounded good and the quality was amazing. I don't really have a favorite from the album, but I just really enjoyed it. It isn't really memorable, maybe if I listened to more of Ghost then I would have a favorite, but it was still an interesting experience. Do you like listening to live albums? I think it was kind of cool listening to a live album instead of going into the band straight away. Kind of helps know if you are really going to enjoy the band or not.

Ghost is my favorite band!! I just got Ceremony and Devotion too and love it. I'm trying to ignore the whole lawsuit stuff. I have been a fan for about 5 years (before they got much notice here in the U.S.) and even have a tattoo of their "grucifix" symbol on my left forearm. My favorite song by them (if I were to pick one) is "Ghuleh/Zombie Queen." I have framed photos of the band all over the walls next to my desk. Anyway, definitely check out more of their music if you like their live album!

That is awesome! That is what I have been doing, the lawsuit stuff is a bit...silly in my opinion. Oh my gosh, that is so cool about the tattoo! I will for sure being listening to more!

@DesirousDreamer Yeah, the lawsuit is just a huge mess. It's too bad the ghouls ruined the whole mystery behind the band by revealing identities (even though I already knew who they were; it was still fun not knowing much about them.) I am debating whether I want to add a tattoo of their band logo to my arm. My favorite album is "Meliora," which is also their most recent. But I love all their albums. I literally listen to them every day and never get sick of them.

@DesirousDreamer Exactly. Lawsuits are just a fact of the music industry...all bands have them at one time or another, and all bands usually have some kind of internal drama. It's best to just ignore all that (it's none of our business, really, anyway) and just listen to the music. And right on!

I always think I don't like live albums, but in reality what I don't like is listening to different versions of songs from the version I already know. I normally listen to album versions so that means I don't tend to like live versions when I hear them, however the first time I heard anything by Tim Buckley was when my dad gave me a live album and ever since then I don't like the album versions of Tim Buckley's songs as much as I love the live ones. He did so much with each song it's like a completely different thing each time

@DesirousDreamer Yeah I get that The reason your discussion caught my eye was because I recently decided to start listening to music I don't know already, I've always listened to stuff I love over and over again until I get bored of it and I like a wide variety of genres, but I feel like I need some new artists and bands now. I use Spotify so I've decided to pick a new band or artist every now and then and listen to each one for a week

That is understandable, I like variety, but sometimes live versions are a little odd but I like mostly for the fact that you get to hear the raw voice and that is fun haha

@LilyBeBack I think spotify is such a great place to find new bands especially with that Discover Weekly playlist they make!

No, I do NOT enjoying listening to live shows at all. I always prefer the original recording of a song.

I can respect that. I am more of a fan of a studio music, but some live shows are so interesting because you can hear the raw voice.
