Bird commentary

I like to look out the window to see if there are any birds in the backyard. I love birds, even though we only get grackles, pigeons, doves, and woodpeckers, I still love watching them. My mom gets a kick out of me when I commentate what is happening outside. I make little stories going on, like one time there were 3 female birds at the water dish we have outside and I was saying it was a girls night and then two male birds came flying down trying to crash it and the female birds were not having it and chased them off. Today there was this sweet little pigeon dove (I think they are called like a Columbidae, but pigeon dove just sounds better even though that is kind of redundent..whatever!) and it was trying to fly in for a sip of the water then a grackle (kind of like a tiny crow) comes in and swats at this bird, and then another pigeon dove also harasses this bird. Every time it comes back this second pigeon dove attacks it. So I was talking about how they got beef and no one likes the birds because they are different or whatever, maybe they don't like eating bugs and only go after seeds, you know...veggie bird. And my mom was just laughing and then she was dying every time I got excited seeing pidgeons. We don't get pidgeons a lot around here, I don't know why like there are so many pigeons near my dad who is like 3 blocks away, but not many here. But I always get excited when I see pigeons, I think they are pretty even though most people hate them. I wish we got quail in my yard, but we don't. I see them a lot near a bike pathway so that is exciting, but it would be cute to see a little quail family drink from the water dish. Maybe someday! My mom tells me I should record myself talking about the birds and they would get a kick out of me doing bird commentary.

My little daughter loves when pigeons fly by. She can stay by the window for ages just to look at them

@DesirousDreamer I only started watching them because I have to hold my daughter by the window. I also noticed that they have a pattern. And at certain hours they would completely disappear (probably for a nap). And I thought that the life of a bird was just random.

Birds can make great scenarios, especially if there are different species around. Here they tend to segregate, I'm unlikely to spot two species hanging out together. While instead, at the beach, I saw gulls and pigeons and sparrows fighting for food. Poor little sparrows couldn't get anything. I love pigeons as well, nobody seems to understand their beauty. When a male pigeon starts courting the females, it looks like he only succeeds with me. There aren't many pigeons in my neighborhood; I usually see sparrows, magpies and hooded crows. They're noisy but shy, although they often visit my bedroom balcony. Corvids are simply my favorite because they're smart, and if I talk to them, they sometimes reply back. We don't understand each other, but hey, that can also happen between two humans.

We only get like 5 kinds of birds around here so it isn't that crazy but they all do really hang out with each other except for the dang grackles, they are punks haha! I think pigeons are amazing because they are so freaking smart it is crazy!

Oh, it can be a great hobby. There used to be Mallard ducks that swooped in to my daughter's house and yard for refreshment. They had a wild turkey attend one of their yard sales. My daughter lives in Minnesota in a Minneapolis suburb, not a place to expect either of these.

I also enjoy watching pigeons. We used to have a large population here but our city officials started poisoning them or something. Now we don't see as many.

I love birds, and cardinals are always my favorite because I rarely see them.

I wish we had cardinals here but we only get city birds here haha that is the only thing I miss about living in Wyoming was seeing so many different kinds of birds!
