I Should Have Known Better!

Having the need for a new pair of sneakers and little time to go to a shoe store, I ordered them online. Foolish mistake on my part. They were a good name brand, and because I have been a size 9 for years, I thought I would take a chance and order the sneakers from JC Penney. I anxiously waited for their arrival. Was excited to get them and hurried inside with the package. I of course had to let the shoes warm up because they had been outside. So, after dinner, I removed them from the box and donned them. They were a little tight and very uncomfortable. Arrrrggggh. So today, they go back to JC Penney and I will have them credit my account. Hopefully the trip won't be a wasted one and I will find a gift for my mother-in-law. At some point I will head to the shoe store today to try on hopefully just a few pair of sneakers and find the right ones for me. Should have done that in the first place. Do you buy shoes online or go to a store to try them on first?

Every shoe I wear is something I try on first, even flip flops. I have very picky feet.

My feet are fussy too. I remember a time when I could buy the cheap ones and had many pair. Now I have fewer and spend more.

@ElusiveButterfly I think I always had the need for special shoes. I did not mind cheaper clothes, but the feet had to have the best.

I try on shoes first before buying them, I haven't bought a pair in years though. I hope you can find a pair that are comfortable. =)

I am going to stick with what I have. They have been the most comfortable sneakers I have ever owned. Also the most expensive!

The only things I've ever ordered online were embroidery stuff and books. Anything else, I have to see/touch/try on in person.

Clothing and shoes are hard to buy online and have a guarantee that they will fit properly. I envy anyone that is able to purchase online and have it fit.

store.it's too risky not to be able to try them on. last pair i bought online was too narrow, and i said never again.the size was totally off.

I am expecting sneakers to come that are the same as what I wear now. They are a different color though. Hope that doesn't make a difference in the sizing.

I have to try on my shoes in person to make sure they fit right. I can wear anything from a size 8 to a size 9, so I have to make sure they're comfortable and fit properly.

I just ordered a pair of sneakers online, but they are ones that I currently wear. Went to the shoe store and they didn't have my size. Go figure. They also said they wouldn't get a shipment again til March. Wow.

@Srbageldog I wear a size 9, most of the time that is. I was surprised to hear that they won't get another shipment until March. You would have thought that they would have ordered a pair so they could make a sale. Perhaps they get a better discount when they order in mass amounts.

@ElusiveButterfly Wow. That's a long time for them to go between shipments. I have discovered that most the time when I find a shoe I like, the stores never have my size (8 1/2). It must be the most common size.

I don't buy clothes or shoes online for that very reason. You can't be sure of the right fit.

Must try them on first or spend more time returning the item. I still have to bring the sneakers back to the store for a refund.

No I wont do this, Some shoes I wear a 7 and others an 8, even 8 1/2. I have to try on all my shoes before I buy them.

I have had a smaller size fit when I tried them on and then other times they were too tight.

No, haven't tried buying shoes online. I prefer physical stores so I could try them.

I feel it is best to try them on first. I thought I would be safe to buy them online this time. Wrong.
