How Do you Sign off for the Day?

I try to finish all pending matters before going to bed. Now that I am retired things are much easier than before.
I come here to relax! In between I attend to other matters. I travel few times a year and that can be disruptive to my routine. I am distracted during those times but I still manage to respond to discussions though avoid posting my own.
I do not jot down my activity list but they remain at the back of my mind all the time. Mixing them up is my mantra but one at a time for peace of mind and concentrated effort.
I try to keep to timings for meals, sleep, waking up etc. Restricting my activities and finishing whatever I have to do give me sound sleep.
I would love to know how you go about your daily routine and your mood when you sign off for the day.

I have no routines for signing off. I make sure I do anything that needs doing, have some more relaxed time and go to bed when tired or earlier if I need to be up for a set time the next day

I do not so much sign off for the day, as to sign on for the night.
I lay in bed, and do some relaxation techniques. Squeezing and stretching tired muscles then releasing them slowly. Taking several deep breaths, holding them some times, as I squeeze my whole body, then letting the breath go, together with my body too. (I usually work myself up from my feet to my head, squeezing and relaxing each part progressively so, individually so, until finally, I do one or two whole body squeezes then too.)
Then I do a long slow count backwards from 50 to 1. With each number, I visualise it twice on a blackboard. Once in numeric form, and another in writing form. With each number, I imagine rubbing the board clean again with a duster.
In between counts, I intersperse the count with a few choice words, like relax, going deeper and deeper now, all tension leaving my body now etc. etc.
I have then signed on for the night, the best part of my day, where I dream, and do things that I could never do during the day...LOL...
Which life is the most real, our day life, or our night life?
For me, it's my night life!!

@Shiva49 If I happen to wake up in the middle of the night, I will usually go through this same routine again then too. I also add other types of visualisations, like walking up or down stairs, for example, and imagining a different colour stair for each step.
I practise simple visualisation techniques like imagining myself eating an apple too at first, before I try to then go onto something more, such as reading something from a card, I imagine getting from my letter box, etc. etc.

@Shiva49 Visualisation used to be easy for me, but now I have to kickstart it with some simple visualisations first. I imagine peeling an apple, eating a banana, something really simple like that, picturing to myself its colour and texture etc.
I guess we all have to find ways that best suit ourselves.

Thanks Steve for your thought provoking take on signing off for the day or signing in for the night!
Yours is more of a ritual than rushing into much needed shut eye like for most.
It is mindful activity leading to sleep
Sleep eludes some and they keep awake more during the night time.
I like to go to bed on a blank slate and allow sleep to do the rest.
I want my subconscious self to take the wheel!
I do some body stretching and breathing exercises twice a day
I know some may not like to share their personal preferences but at the end of the day we all benefit by knowing we have our own quirks to get through the day and night! siva

All I know is, I am so glad you can attend to myLot Siva.
I really do not have a routine but once my head hits the pillow, I am drifting off usually falling asleep to a boring film.
