When you tell someone that you are going to do something than you are commented to do it. Otherwise you should not tell someone that you will help them to begin with. To tell the person that now you are not going to help them after you said you would. Is so wrong. I would never do that to someone. But there are so many people that will do that and it is so wrong when you do that after making a comment.

Typo alert: "commented to do it." I try not to make promises I can't keep. Sometimes I even say, "I'll try to be there, but I don't want to make a promise I can't keep. I'll keep you posted."

I try not to promise anything, because you can have unplanned emergencies and you cannot keep your word. I always say "I will, if I can, but I cannot promise".

@jstory07 do you always experience that? having someone assures you that they will help you or something and then they will just back out?

That certainly is really bad but if he has a valid explanation as to why then I think we should forgive him/her, what say?

I agree with you, though I think at the time people commit, they may have good intentions. Though, like you say, don't commit at all.

You are right! Promising, and not keeping, is wrong! I only promise, if I have the certainty of being able to maintain that promise!( Eg, a task to perform for someone else)

I hate these people. 'A promise should be a promised.' Sometimes I can't control myself saying bad comments to them.

@jstory07 I do agree with you. During my childhood years, my parents cannot fulfill their promises. I had learned to be content at an early age.

Sadly sometimes things happen that prevent you doing something you have promised to do. A friend of mine moved many years ago and asked for people to help. He used to help everyone and anyone. Only I and my wife turned up to help. He was too nice to complain. I told him that he would have to learn to be hard when so many have let him down! I felt so sorry for him!

I have a friend who is exactly like that.. at first I am affected. But now, I opt not to mind it. I just do not expect too much from her. But you know what, its real that no matter you try to understand her, trust is already affected
