Saying goodbye to kids

This time of year is when the first trimester of swimming classes ends. Some kids leave and new ones take their places. Some of those kids have been in my lessons for years. They either perfected all the swimming styles or they leave for other reasons like moving to another city. So they would draw me something nice (which I always keep) or they would give me a small gift like chocolate (which I happen to love so much) or other sweets like the one in the photo. This one was given to me today because the family is moving to Germany. They also took a photo with me.

I didn't know that you were a swimming instructor. It must be nice to be so appreciated that your pupils give you gifts.

It's very nice. Especially when you know that they learned to swim very well.

I am sure you will miss the kids who move away. What is this cake? Marzipan?

I will. They said it's something made of sugar and almonds. I don't know if it tastes good or not. I just appreciate the sentiment behind it

@Madshadi Yes, if it's made with sugar and almonds it's marzipan, if you like very sweet stuff, it tastes good. I like in little quantity.

My ultimate dream is to become a swimmer, an Olympic gold medalist. I know you are appreciated by your trainees.

@Madshadi I am not at the age where I can learn the different styles. I know how to swim but the problem is the endurance.

If you are young then why not go for it? It makes me happy to know that I helped them accomplish something like swimming

Yes it’s nice when people appreciate your work. It’s much nicer when kids do it

Yes they are so sweet. Some kids would put much effort into drawing something for me.

That is so sweet they gave this to you, but sad they're leaving your class. I guess all teachers have to deal with children leaving them.

Yes and the longer they stay the harder it gets when they leave.
