Santa Claus was a bast*rd.

In a small town of Britanny, Pontivy, a Santa who was in the streets received several complaints on Facebook : «This Santa Claus is mean with the children and the parents. He told inappropriate and pervert comments, saying in particular that he wanted to kiss a mother.» «Christmas is sacred ! It is wrong to have children crying when they come back at home !» «This Santa said to my 5 y.o. niece to go suck an egg.» «He refused to hug a little girl, but said her that he would hug her mother, and more if she was agreeing», etc
When it comes to identify the guilty Santa, it is more difficult, as there were at least 2 Santa in the streets, from 2 different associations of shopkeepers, and if you ask them their Santa is an experienced Santa that cannot have acted like this and is beyond any doubt.
Then came on a FB video the paranoid theory : there was a third Santa in the streets, a bast*rd coming there just to make children cry and harass their mothers. After all, we have already seen this with clowns.
The town, in a media release, said that «being a Santa Claus is not always an easy task» and finally the two associations apologized «if the humor of their Santa Claus had not been always understood by the children and their parents.»
All this tempest in a tea pot made me laugh. It is true that walking in the streets all the day under a heavy disguise is not easy, and you cannot ask to Santa Claus to be always politically correct.

One tends to act according to the outfit one is wearing especially if one gets paid for doing so. The guy who broke the rule in this case, doesn't sound to be a nice person. (There are certain rules when ones could break or should break. This is NOT it! Guess I am a bit of a fanatic when the matter touched/affected children and/or women in general!)

@YrNemo Nothing except a nice looking castle. It could have been different : Napoleon had the idea to put the capital of Britanny in Pontivy, and it has been called "Napoléonville". The reason are that it was exactly at the center of Britanny and was not a royalist town. He sent architects to rebuild the town with large streets and squares worth of a capital city, but the idea ended with him, and Pontivy has only 13 965 inhabitants today.

@topffer There you are, perhaps because I have no clue what is special about the streets of Pontivy? (Perhaps I should go check that place out on youtube. Youtube seems to have everything anything these days!) Hang on, since you are here, tell us then, what is special about Pontivy?

You just know that Santa would never survive here - there'd be an angry attack on him by offended folks who will take him out faster than his next ho ho ho! But let's think about this - perhaps Santa is misunderstood - even he can't possibly be happy and jolly (nor politically correct) all the time !

@topffer Well, we may be more tolerant of certain things, but depends on the time, the place, the persons, the situation of course. At the same time we are not tolerant of many things. It is funny, but it probably wouldn't sit right with the big mama and papa bears out there - their bear claws would come out! Oh this cover is hilarious . . . but so is the name of the magazine !

@topffer Humorists know how to get around these things - and they will! In these crazy times (well, that's basically all of human time), thank goodness for humorists because we certainly need the comic relief from all this seriousness!

I was thinking that California was a very tolerant area inside USA? This kind of humor is not appropriate when it comes to young children, but in the good tradition of Charlie Hebdo/Hara Kiri humor. Just for you the cover of Hara Kiri for December 1973, with Santa saying "Wake up, it is Christmas !"

Well, Santa or not, I suppose it's common sense to know what sort of things are inappropriate to say to those children?

They could make their own Bad Santa movie with a mysterious third Santa lurking in the background.

@saritflor Something that we can never do on mylot without telling it is sarcasm, as many members do not understand it. I have been more surprised here.
