Should homeowners put up such elaborate lighting displays for Christmas? If you lived next door to that person or nearby would it bother you? Or are you a "Deck The Halls and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" holiday display admirer? Is it ever too much? Here is one display which led to complaints to the police. There is no question that Thomas Apruzzi's Christmas lights display brings plenty of holiday cheer to his Old Bridge neighborhood, but it also brings lots of...

I do like to drive around and look at lights. This guy rules! His house wouldn't bother me at all.

It is a spectacular display. And although I may not want to live next door to him, I do want to see his light show

@dgobucks226 - A guy here in Colorado Springs used to go off so much that there was always a two mile line of cars waiting to see his display. His neighbors were always complaining.

@teamfreak16 I am sure it can get annoying after a week or so. The guy should of charged admission and split the money with his neighbors...

Some here put up very elaborate displays but others love to drive around and see all the lights. It wouldn't worry me but the extra traffic and I guess so much light at night would worry some.

Traffic on the neighborhood streets and lack of parking would be a concern. I guess for a couple weeks it might be ok? I admit I have driven to see such displays

It is a spectacular sight. As long as I have a driveway to park in I'm good. I'm sure there is plenty of traffic with the spectators and difficult street parking.

As long as my neighbors aren’t doing anything illegal it’s not my place to say what they do on their property. Like Copernicus’s mother told him, the world doesn’t revolve around me.

Very true, as long as they are following township codes it is within their right to show their holiday spirit. Are you sure about that "world" statement? Have a merry one!

If I COULD HEAR THE MUSIC I WOULD COMPLAIN, sorry i didn't realize I was yelling at you.... our neighborhood has a lot of color and I do too but no noise to go with the lights. And not a lot of movement in the displays either.

@dgobucks226 When I was a kid I lived in the boonies, we kids would meet at the church and the adults filled their cars with kids and we went to the seniors called "shuts ins" who were mostly stuck in their homes and we would sing Christmas Carols to the elders. When we finished our trip the drivers would drive us to the huge houses that light up the night, because it was in the country, we got to enjoy the scenes... I don't do that now, once in my nice warm house that is where I stay at night during winter...

@PainsOnSlate Thanks for sharing that childhood story. Such a nice thing to do. Can't blame you for staying in a warm house with those Canadian winters. I saw on the news that your weather has been quite chilly and snowy so far!

The display is very in your face I agree. You can yell at me it ok. I agree if their music is really loud and too late into the evening I would be upset too. Although, I would go see the home, but would probably have to wait like a Disney ride for my turn to get close enough to enjoy the sights.

To me unless the whole block is doing all the lights, that would be aggravating @dgobucks226 .

@dgobucks226 I'd have to go to the nearest store and buy several bottles of Scotch, Rum, Tequila.....something.

Imagine if you lived next door and did not decorate for Christmas? Plus, the flashing lights and music.

If he played the accompanying music loudly and repeatedly I can see where that would become an annoyance. The constantly changing lights might also lead to complaints if you lived right across the street or next door. Our neighborhood used to have many more lights up for the holiday season but now very few of us put up lights and our displays are moderate to small.

I do enjoy the houses with many lights and displays. The video is a bit overboard, but as long as he is being careful not to annoy his neighbors and being responsible he has a right to do it. Our neighborhoods have a combinations of wonderful displays or small ones/ none at all...

I am like many people who wait on line to see such a spectacle. We had a good one in a nearby neighborhood town over from me until they stopped doing lights due to neighborhood complaints.

It's pretty but I wouldn't want to live near it. The glow of all the lights is a little too much. However I love to ride around and look at all the decorations and such. I just don't really want it next door if it is overdone.

Yes, looking at how each house is decorated is so much fun. I enjoy seeing the different light schemes and decorations people use.

There is the question of using so much electricity on decorative displays that drains from power sources.

Yes, that monthly electric bill must add up to all the neighbor's combined!

They are beautiful aren't they. I guess if they turn it off at a reasonable hour it is cheery!

That's cute. If they bought the displays and pay for power? Who cares. Don't like it? Dont drive over and look. Dont want to live next to it? Go buy in a house area with a homeowner association you agree with. People need to stop being angry over everything. If its not killing people or hurting anyone..why be mad?!

I don't know those lights could cause sunburn... I guess you can't please everybody. It is an awesome display for sure!
