Christmas day at our house

The day started early for me with snow falling outside and the ground covered in white. With the Christmas tree lit, I started to make my way around the house lighting candles to give it a cozy feeling then put the fireplace scene on the big screen. The sound of a crackling fire warmed my heart. However, it didn't stop there. Next, I turned on some Christmas music and headed toward the kitchen where I would make ready some hot cocoa for all. Once the water was hot everyone started making their way from their beds gathering in front of the Christmas tree. After bringing in the hot cocoa, I gave a speech about the year we all faced and praised each member of the family individually for a specific act which made them stand out. Whether it be kindness, courage, or challenges that they faced this was my moment to let them shine. In closing, I was thankful to have all family members safe and well, where others were not so fortunate experiencing a death. After my speech, I then handed out gifts and the family began to play games. Not long after I start breakfast making sure to give everyone freshly squeezed orange juice with their meal. Having the day start off so well it truly felt like a joyful Christmas. Each member of the family did their part helping with Christmas dinner then we all sat down for a movie. It's but 6 p.m. and I'm yawning. Today I did not work on the oil painting that will wait for tomorrow.
