I forgot to get red and green food coloring but I made some pizzelles anyway. Pizzelles are tradition waffle cookies. You can make them hard and chewy or soft and chewy. I make them soft and chewy. I made them tonight and they came out really good.

They are popular in the German part of Switzerland, they are made very thin and crispy here.

I didn't know about pizzelles before, very interesting. Reminds me of one of our traditional cookies except that they're crispy.

@hereandthere Yeah pretty similar although they're slightly crispier than sugar cones. The taste is also a bit different. I know it's popular in Indonesia too, but not sure about the Phillipines.

@garymarsh6 You can put in anything that you like for flavoring. Even rum flavoring. Some people melt chocolate to put in them.

I've never heard of pizzelles before. They look nice. Are they made in a special equipment or mold to give them that design?

Like most here, this is a first I heard of pizzelle and the pizzelle maker looks like a sandwich maker. Very interesting and they sure look/sound delicious... I have this thin waffle maker/pan and when I use it the waffles come out very similar to yours...

My relatives used to make them alot. They traditionally come in vanilla or anise flavoring. I liked the vanilla ones..but was never a fan of the anise ones. I like the Dutch Stroopen waffles.
