Early this morning my granddaughter left for the airport and is flying to Pheonix, Arizona with her high school marching band for the Fiesta Bowl Parade. The logistics alone in getting 250 band members, their instruments and suitcases to Pheonix is mind boggling and I give credit to the person in charge. All the band members had to have their instruments and suitcases and packed and at the school on Dec 21st so that it could all be packed into a huge truck and sent on its way. The band members were at the school this morning at 5am and heading to the airport by bus for a 9:30 am flight. All they had to bring was a carryon since everything else went by truck. My granddaughter texted that they were ready to board the plane and everything went smoothly. After the parade on Saturday they will have a whole itinerary planned including a trip to the Grand Canyon and a big New Year's Eve party. I'm so excited for her and this whole new experience and the memories she'll make not to mention all the fun. She won't return until late night on Tuesday and will miss that day of school. We never had such great opportunities when I was in high school and after seeing and hearing all that she does it almost makes me want to go back to school.

Yes, the young ones have far more opportunities than we did. I don't remember any outings at all.

That's right, we didn't have any trips like that when I was in school either. I hope and am sure that, she will have a very memorable trip. And I also hope that she and her instrument and the luggage all makes it back home together.

That is a wonderful experience she will remember the rest of her life. Will the Fiesta Bowl be televised so you can see the band? What is the name of her high school?

It's wonderful what some of the kids get to experience nowadays. I'm sure she'll have a wonderful time - and yes, the logistics of moving that many would be mind-boggling.

Will they have time to tour Phoenix. I have been there and as a matter of fact when I was looking for a place to live other than Minneapolis I thought of Phoenix but it was not the right one for me. I found the right one here in Jerusalem. I love their weather. I was only there in the summer. I really hope she has a great time and no I did not get opportunities like that when I went to school.
