I posted in another post my dog passed away on 12/23, but I find myself at a loss. I was used to a routine, with her going on walks, getting excise. I looked in a couple of shelter, but wow the prices to adopt are expense, Adoption Fees? ? Fees include vaccinations and spay/ neuter costs. Fees: Cats over 1 year old: $125 Kittens: $150 Senior cats 7 years and older: $75 Dogs and puppies: $250-500 depending on breed Senior Dogs: $150-$300 depending on breed I never dreamed would cost so much, I didn't see the type of dog I am looking for.A lot of the dogs were older I didn't mind, but they all bite and some been there for 2 years waiting for their forever home. I left my name ad phone number at a private rescue, to call if they get any small friendly dogs in .

If you can't find one in a shelter there is always Craigslist or groups on FB that have animals all the time that need homes.

@CookieMonster46 Wow that's expensive! I have gotten a free dog off CL and they had vet papers stating they were fixed and up to date on shots, etc...

@LovingMyBabies no one trying to rehome , I thought the very same thing, the price was quite high, no wonder they have so many waiting to be adopted them. People can't afford the price.

That is expensive. I hope you find one. I don't think it's too early. I was happy I had Pip when I had to put Rascal down. She was a life saver for me. I'm so sorry you lost your pup.

Im a firm believer of the saying- you dont choose the dog, the dog chooses you. In time, the right dog will come along and adopt you.

Wow that is a lot. I don't know where you are but in Colorado there's a shelter called Dumb Friends League, I've gotten all my pets from them and they're way cheaper new puppies are 250 and a dog over 2 is $50 so maybe you can look and see if they have a shelter in your state too.

I bought a couple of months ago a beautiful and expensive puppy. It was stolen the same day. Now I will wait until my friends find where to live and I will fix my house AND garden in such a way that no one can steal my doggie.

You could try a site called Nextdoor..sometimes local people in your neighborhood know of places to adopt for free or little money or someone has a dog to rehome.

To me it'd be very early but everyone is different and if one comes up that youd fall in love with and it feels right to you, then get it.
