In a funk ....

I know a few people on here find themselves in a funk every now and then. What do you do to get yourself out of it? I have been feeling sad all day today. As soon as my grand daughter left I got back into bed and have been here ever since. I just feel to be alone with my thoughts. I have no desire to do anything. One of my kitties has been laying here beside me all afternoon. It is comforting. I tried to eat but I am just not feeling it. I know it will pass and I will feel better in a few days but for now I just can't get over this feeling of sadness.

I always redirect my thoughts by doing something that requires my paying attention. Our brain gets a break when we are redirecting our thoughts by working on a project, cleaning, taking a walk etc. and the sadness lifts because the chemicals in the brain are given a chance to right themselves.

I'm sorry your feeling down. I pray, watch Todd White videos on YouTube, listen to Christian music and my favorite when I am able to is help someone else who is down or just needs something I can give. =) I will be praying you feel more like yourself soon!

I understand how you feel Laurel. For me I had to switch my anti-depressant and get back to seeing a counselor. I took some big measures because I was feeling terrible. I hope that you can come out of this soon.

I don't have many of these days anymore but a couple of things may help. Fill the bathtub and pamper yourself a little with a good soak in nice hot water, then go ahead and take a nap, I usually feel better when I wake up. Or plan a vacation, it doesn't have to be a real one, do a dream one but research bed and breakfasts that you would love to visit, anything to get your mind into a more positive place. Sending hugs and prayers your way.

Hope you get out of this funk soon. I know how you feel. Walking and exercise helps me too is there an inexpensive gym nearby you could join to get that walking in

Sometimes I just go with the feelings and don't really do anything. Reading others posts here can be nice at those times but sometimes in my funks I don't want to be at mylot at all.

Well what I like to do it light candles, drink a bottle of brandy and listen to music. It helps me feel better somehow.. But I think it's the way to get out of a funk!

I try to get involved in something that really needs concentration. Before I was married I'd go for a long ride on my pony. It's surprising the problems I used to solve while I was riding. I'd come home more relaxed and focussed.
