sometimes i buy different kinds of breads good for several days. recently, it was focaccia, a different brand of wheat bread, and a dozen small muffins. i got home late so i taped an FYI (for your info) note that two are in the fridge, and one in the bread box. i remember pausing as i wrote focaccia. did i spell that right? i guess i was remembering broccoli again. i'm always unsure if it's double C or double L. are there names of food you keep misspelling?

Focaccia looks right. My main trouble is always with zucchini. It may be correct there, but am never sure.

i checked them both before posting this, but when you're writing a list or a reminder on paper, you have to rely on memory and how it "looks" like. zucchini isn't something we buy so i guess i would look it up if i had to write it with pen and paper.

@hereandthere Very true. I guess as long as we understand it, thats the main concern!

even here, i tend to misspell words, because of the keyboard and my 2 index fingers.

You can always do a spell check when things look wrong such as a word.

Focaccia is spelled correctly, I do not know if what you bought is the real Italian thing. I make my focaccia all the time at home. Also broccoli is spelled correctly.

yes, i checked both spellings before posting this. i also learned from youtube that it's pronounced fo-ka-cha. what i was describing is when i have to actually write these words down using pen and paper and relying on my memory. we don't mind if it's not authentic. we don't bake. we just want something different once in a while from the usual pandesal or tasty (white sliced bread).

@hereandthere I baked focaccia when I was in the Philippines as I couldn't buy it somewhere. Here in Germany, I can buy it in the supermarket or in the bakery.

ah, cinnamon i know very well. i guess when it comes to herbs and spices, it would be chamomile (single or double m?) and turmeric (i thought it was tumeric) and cardamom (i thought it was cardamon with an N, but now i see both are accepted.

especially when you have to use pen and paper (with no kodigo/cheat sheet) and especially if it's english or another language (in this case italian). i mean, it would be embarrassing for us to make mistakes in tagalog/filipino!

I used to make a rosemary focaccia . . . time to get that recipe out! I usually get food spellings right, but I know I've had problems with "cappuccino".

I also get confused with spellings of those with double successive same letters. ha ha ha I don't mind as long as it is what I am trying to mean and it is understood as to what I am trying to mean.

yes, but are there words in english, italian, french, etc that are not your native language that if you had to write down using pen and paper, you're always misspelling?

There are few words I always have trouble with. For one, I always want to spell 'gauge' as 'guage'.

@hereandthere That's a tricky one. I spell it out in my head. I used to repeat OEU over and over till it stuck.

I love Focaccias, I'm not sure thought how to write it correctly that have to be an Italian word if I'm not wrong. And sure, when these are dishes I'm not familiar with them I might get them wrong written.
