Which movie do you like better Home Alone 1 or 2?

For Christmas we bought my son the Home Alone movies, we got the set which includes the third one which is kind of a crappy movie in my opinion because it is nowhere near as good as the first two. That got my husband and I talking about which movie we liked better, we both agreed that we like the second movie better. I just thought it was way more hilarious and had more going on and the plot was better. Don't get me wrong the first one was good but I like the second one better. Most of the people I have talked to also liked the second one better, but I will on occasion find someone who did like the first one better. The first one was cool in that it was great seeing John Candy, but the second one has Tim Curry and Rob Schneider...not to mention the whole movie takes me back to my childhood. It is the first movie I can actually remember seeing in theaters, and I remember laughing so hard I could barely breathe. I remember it very fondly and as I watched it with my son I definitely laughed more than I did when we watched the first one together. He is bugging me to watch the third one now but I have a difficult time getting myself to watch it because it pales in comparison to the first two. It doesn't have the same cast and I don't remember finding the movie remotely funny, it was one of those movies I could only watch once and never cared to see again, whereas the first two I have seen countless times and I have yet to really tire of them, even though I'll always pick the second one over the first one any day. What are your opinions on the movies? Which do you like better? Home alone 1 or 2? And is there anyone out there who likes Home Alone 3? I'm genuinely curious to see which movie comes out on top here.

I didn't bother with the third one but I agree that the second was funnier. I'm a big fan of Tim Curry so that clinched it right there.

I liked all 3 but my favourite would be the 1st one. When you are seeing the second one, you pretty much know how the plot goes coz it's similar o the 1st including most of the comedy. Third one is forgettable one to first two but still it's entertaining

I liked the first one more... Because it was a purely new thing with so many hilarious moments... If you look closely, the second movie is all the good moments of first movie+silly coincidences

My thing with the second one is that I actually laughed way more while watching it and Tim Curry pretty much made the movie. The second one has a plot that makes more sense too. I can get why Kevin was difficult to find in the second one because he was in New York, whereas the first one...how on earth can you not find the kid who is in his home? I mean the guy knocks like twice and walks away. There were zero neighbors around when they live in a pretty decent sized area...I could go on for quite a bit in how the plot didn't make as much sense. The second one you can understand more how the kid stayed missing longer. As I watched both movies in the past two days I just had way more laughs with the second one. The brick scene makes me laugh to this day more than the entire first movie made me laugh.

Hello, watched one and two and just now i`m thinking if i watched the third one and i`m not sure. Or maybe because i didn`t like it i forgot i ever watched the third one. I have too many memories from the first one and have to tell that i like it more than the second one

The third one is relatively easy to forget. I can only remember a few scenes. I find it odd that almost everyone I personally know likes the second one but so far on this post, both responses have been for the first one. I think what the movies represent sometimes help with preferences. For me I remember the second one a lot better and as I mentioned it was the first movie I can remember seeing in theaters. Apart from just the memories though I think Tim Curry's part really helps steal this movie for me. John Candy was great and all but he wasn't the amazing Tim Curry.
