Curbside Express and Grocery Delivery

For the past two months, both of my local two grocery stores--Giant Eagle and Acme Fresh Markets-- have started these two services for customers to save money and precious family time. I've been in talks with it with my brother since then, and we're going to start the Curbside Express next weekend.
Since my big grocery trips to Giant Eagle is about a hour long to get what I need for the month, this would cut the time for us in half. We can do the library, the bank, Aldi's and Target in one hour and pick up the groceries on the way back. Here's how it works, which is pretty cool. All you have to do is sign in if you have an account, select the items you want a personal shopper to pick for you on the website, and select the time for pick-up. The shopper will place your groceries on a special cart and take it to checkout. There's a designated parking spot for that and pull over there. I did ask on Facebook this week, if you can use coupons. And they said yes for both physical and e-coupons too. This can be a huge bonus for us! I'll remind my brother about this on Wednesday and select my groceries on Saturday morning, as soon as I'll made my list with my coupons and our usual errand time. We can be done by noon.
As for the grocery delivery, I'm planning to do it with Acme Fresh Markets. If it's freezing like today with the snow, if I'm sick, or if I need groceries and my brother's out-of-town or out-of-state for work, I can just log-in into my account and pick the items online to be delivered to my apartment. I do have to pay $16 for grocery delivery, which isn't too bad, since I plan to use it once a month for a small to medium list.I also have to select the time to have it delivered too online. Right now, they only accept e-coupons. I hope they would accept paper coupons soon.
Does your local grocery stores have a delivery or pick-up option? And if so, would you use it next year?

We have an e-supermarket you could say. I already use them. I am only one person so I put in an order online like once a month and then pay through my bank online and they deliver the groceries to me at the time I choose. I love it because I don't have to carry heavy things and I don't have a car. This way I can also store up on certain groceries when they are on sale.

Our large chain that we shop at has delivery service.
I don't use it, but our daughter-in-law does.
She doesn't like grocery shopping, but our son does.
However, she orders online, even though it is an additional $5 because its a bigger savings then what it is when our son shops with her and throws all of those "extras" in the cart that they don't really need.

@Courtlynn Yeah that's real close enough for me to walk. But not like yesterday morning in the freezing cold and snow. Brr.

I think using the personal shopper option at Giant sounds really neat. I do hope you come back here and write about your experience with it after using it. I am curious if the wait for your order would be longer then expected. That creates a job for someone so I think its awesome.

No, the only place here I know that offers it is CVS. I tried it one time because I got a ten dollar coupon or something. I rarely shop at CVS though..so not worth it to me.

@KristenH I think they are over priced for most things, especially medicine.

@snowy22315 Wow. I haven't been to CVS since last fall for the flu shot.

I'm seriously considering it. I would not do it before because of the fees but I'm in such poor shape that a trip to the grocery leaves me exhausted. By the time I get home I am laboring to breathe and carrying the bag in takes every ounce of determination I have. I may try it out soon. I am definitely not short on time and I do enjoy the trip because I don't get out much but it's becoming unfeasible to do so.

That makes sense. But at least you don't have to worry about long lines.

I went to do the grocery shopping today and I hated having to do it with the weather being so cold. I never thought to use the delivery service cause it certainly would have been worth the small fee they charge. I'm going to have to keep this in mind.
You are right about all the other things you could do with that hour instead of being in the supermarket.

You should give it a try. More family time==less time in long lines.
