Yelling At Kids At Work

I work in a hotel as some of you know. When kids are in the hotel it can be quite the ruckus going on. A lot of the little ones are fascinated by the glass elevator we have and are always begging to go on it. Unfortunately, the older kids can be quite the handful, especially when their parents aren't watching them. We've had the elevators breakdown because of them playing on them. Once they had both down. One thing we are allowed to do is yell at kids. It isn't to be mean but we're trying to run a business. I've yelled at kids running in the halls, playing on the elevators and making too much noise when other guests are still sleeping. I've even told a parent or two to tell their kids to be quiet. Today it was a bunch of little boys and the elevator in the back. When the door opened and I tried to get my cart out, they started piling in. I made them get out and then watched as they crawled (literally) into the elevator. I told them knock it off and quit playing while thinking "I glad these aren't my kids!" LOL

Sometimes the parents are worse than the kids! She knew darn well her kid messed it up the room.

I'm sorry you have to deal with such brats. I need folks like you when I am in a hotel. I'm pretty tired by the time I get to the hotel so if a bunch of kids were to barrel into me by accident they could cause me to fall. I know. That makes me sound like an old wimp. Truth isn't always pretty.

As a paying guest you have the right to expect certain things. Our hotel has a curfew of sorts. After ten p.m. the guest are expected to be quiet. Kids will be kids but the hotel is not a playground.

Their parents should be watching them. What a shame.

That is very irresponsible of the parents to allow them to behave like that.

@irishidid I don't know why parents won't parent their children. I would never have let my kids act this way. I don't believe in hitting people, but it just makes me want to slap their parents and say wake up.
