They are on the Mountain!

It is, as I type this, 2:08am in Colorado Springs. It's officially New Years Eve. It's also 22°, not counting wind chill. That's about as warm as it's going to get. Today's high is expected to be 25°, with our overnight low forecast at a whopping 4°. It's going to be even colder on Pikes Peak, where the hearty members of the AdAmAn Club are currently sacked in for the night. Since 1922, the AdAmAn Club has been hiking to the top of the (over) 14,000 foot mountain each December 30th, where they set up a massive fireworks display, which they then shoot off the top of Pikes Peak at the stroke of midnight on January 1st. Each year, the club adds one new man (get it? Add a man?) for the endeavor. It's a really cool way to ring in the New Year. You can see the fireworks for miles and miles. But 4°? Do you really think I'm going outside at 4° just to watch fireworks? Well, the motel we are staying at has a direct, uninhibited line of site to Pikes Peak, and I hopefully will have some booze in me, so yes, you bet I'll be out there watching. I love fireworks!
