I was sick with stomach flu for the past 3 days. Now I am over it.

I was so much in pain. It was the worst case of bloating and cramping anyone could get without screaming out loud. I lost about 2 nights worth of sleep. I went on a bland food diet 2 days ago. Oatmeal for breakfast, later on in the day some apple sauce, but no cinnamon. In the afternoon, I had a bowl of cold cereal, puffed wheat honey bear and cold whole milk. I sipped on ice cold Pepsicola the rest of the evening and frankly the first time in over 36 hours I had no more pain or gas or bloating. I was in misery. I lay on the couch next to my wife, watching PBS doing a musical about the Universe with dancing and joking and clowning around with Professor Cox, who is a very young British looking chap. He tried to remain straight faced but even he had to crack a smile when those dancers and singers went crazy on the star and galaxy lit stage. Some performance. It lifted my mood and finally, at last, the stomach bug was gone and I was able to sleep 10 solid hours under 2 blankets and a sheet as the nighttime took a deep plunge below the freezing mark here in our home in Big D. What might have caused my tummy ache? Well, probably one or two things, the day before the day before the day I started having the first signs of gas and bloating, was after having drank that large glass of eggnogg. Then, the next day we had undercooked burgers. Yep. The burger tasted great, but it was pink in the middle. So, take it from me, don't drink too much eggnogg and fully cook your burger meat before serving. It may have been stress related. I was under stress because all those automobile commercials and to top things off, I didn't win the Texas Lottery and threw 3 dollars away to buy a stupid Texas Mega Ticket. I was foolish to even think I stood a chance at winning that one.

I had a wicked stomach virus from Friday until the Monday of Christmas. I could barely eat anything and had the same stomach cramps. It was awful.

@lookatdesktop Yes. I was back to normal the day after Christmas. Lost 15 pounds though. Merry Pukemas to me!

Before any festive season where a variety of dishes are consumed - including sweets, I would do a sort of cleansing before and after by drinking cerasee tea for three days in a row. In any event -even before and during such holidays I consume very small portions - and no processed foods.

I Like that you are taking proper care of your health in this way. I also agree that small portions are better than gorging on things. Any way, we all tend to over do it on holidays. I am no exception.

It seems to me that the foods caused all that.

I only wish I knew what particular one did the worst to me. I would never have it on my meal list ever again if I knew. I don't want this to ever occur again as it was painful, and caused me a great deal of anguish and worry.

Uncooked and cold food are danger signals for me. Then a silent prayer when I am left with no choice but to consume them! Good that you are okay now. Buying lottery tickets make us plan how to spend the windfall until the draw is over and we are back to square one! siva
