There is a rather creepy island located south of Mexico City named Isla de las Munecas, Island of the Dolls. Island of the Dolls has a rather sad story to tell. A little girl died due to drowning in a canal on the island. The caretaker who found the little girl was devastated when he happened upon the little girl's lifeless body floating in the water. The caretaker, many say, believed that he could have saved the little girl if he had made it to the canal in time to save the little girl from drowning. The caretaker later found a doll floating in the canal. He believed the doll belonged to the little girl who had drowned. The caretaker, to honor the spirit of the drowned girl, placed the doll he found floating in the canal on the limb of a tree. For five decades, the caretaker collected all the dolls he could find. Those dolls he found were placed on the limbs of trees to honor the little girl who drowned in the canal. The dolls were also placed on the trees to honor the spirits of all little girls who had died. Many visitors to the Island of the Dolls bring dolls to hang on the limbs of trees and bushes. Those who visit the island believe the dolls are haunted. Some have claimed they have heard the dolls whisper to each other. Others say the dolls actually summoned them to the island. Sadly, the caretaker of the island also drowned. He drowned in the same canal in which the little girl downed so many years ago.
