More cleaning.. Happy New Year, Hello 2018!

I've had my laptop for over 3-4 years now. I'm thinking its time for an upgrade. I went to go look at new laptops the other day and boy have the prices increased! I don't think I'll buy a new laptop immediately now, but probably in September when there will be deals during the Back to School event where you'd get a headphone with laptop purchase (Apple).
How often do you upgrade/change laptop or computers?
For now, I am going to delete unnecessary documents, photos and clear out things I no longer need. I am a homebody for New Year's Eve. It's 9:40 PM here in California, but hope you all have a wonderful New Years and Hello 2018!

My laptop is 3 years old, I use my desktop most of the time and I upgrade the hardware time by time, adding a new more powerful graphic card, a more high capacity HD and so on. This is the beauty of a desktop toward a laptop. Of course you must know what you do.

My cousin who has the same laptop as I do, told me about how he recently upgraded his hard drive. He said it also improved the temperature of the laptop. Since his/my laptop is older now (it gets hot quicker, so I have a cooling pad). I may ask him to do it for me. He told me it was like $100 or so, not bad.
I also have a desktop but I'm hardly home to use it so I allow my mom to use it.

@infatuatedbby he new Hard Disk for the laptops are not expensive. Removing the cover to change it also allow to clean the fan, that is the cause of the overheating.

My Apple laptop is heading into its 5th year, and still going strong. I was just thinking that I probably need to backup everything on it in case something goes wrong! And I'm sure it's slowed down somewhat since I first bought it, but to me it feels like it still runs as fast as the day I bought it!

I totally need to back up too.. I did awhile ago when I got a scare but Apple fixed it. But since then I haven't. I really do need to. My cousin who has the same laptop as me, changed his hard drive and that made his laptop faster & his laptop doesn't get hot quicker. I may have him do mine. He told me it was like $100 bucks =)

@infatuatedbby I wonder what he did that made the laptop not get hot quicker? Does changing the hard drive affect that?

I've went through a handful of laptops in the past. Laptops for whatever reason are a no go for me - they always either got a virus or overheated.
But the one I have right has been wonders! No issues what so ever, so I'll be getting a new one. But not immediately now, toward the end of the year. Very sweet of your boyfriend to get the laptops for you

@infatuatedbby he had the money, we didn't for why he did. but I'm glad. I loved my old one, but this one is light blue

Took me 5 years to change my old MacBook Pro to a new one. The upgrade is all worth it, though my old laptop is still working and just sitting in the corner. Nobody's using it at the moment.
I think I'll be upgrading to a new one in three years.

@toniganzon I wonder if its a US exclusive only promotional offer?
In earlier years, we got iTunes gift card, then recently it was the beats headphones. For new items like the iPhone X you don't get anything - no discount or promotion.

Ah yes :) I'm glad you're loving your upgrade!
I believe I will upgrade around August/September to take advantage of the Back to School Event ~ where they give you the Beats Headphones for free with purchase. That's when my fiancé upgraded his iMac. Now I have his old one but I don't use it, my mom does.
I don't know if I'll be getting a MacBook Pro again, or the Air. I haven't debated yet.

I don't think so.
I know during back to school toward August/September - Apple gives student discount (though I'm not a student anymore, I have my student ID - I will save $100-150 depending on the laptop) and for a couple years in a row, they've been giving Beats headphones with purchase (which is a $200-300 value). So that's when we usually buy Apple products.
