I know I missed the Good News post yesterday, so I hope the treasures I found today will inspire you and make you smile. Hope and Sanity in Music Nathaniel Ayers lives at South Bay Mental Health Rehabilitation Center in LA. He is a Julliard trained musician, who found himself living on the streets of LA, with a two-stringed violin and a shopping cart with his clothes and bedding. That changed for him in 2005 when he found himself institutionalized. However bad or good things have gotten for Nathaniel, his love for music never died as he continues to play his instruments - violin, bass, keyboard, trumpet, or cello. Steve Lopez, author of the article for the LA Times, took Nathaniel home with him for Thanksgiving and again for Christmas, where he enjoyed playing music with Steve's wife, who plays the piano. To read this inspiring story about Nathaniel Ayers, click on the link: Life-Changing Encounter With State Trooper A young 12-year-old boy was in the car with his dad when they were pulled over by a state trooper for speeding. That encounter changed Brett's life for the good. Born with a speech impediment due to his mother's excessive drinking while she was pregnant, Brett was often picked on. Since the day his dad was pulled over, he gained confidence and his mother stitched a uniform for him and he goes around to trooper stations giving them encouragement. He has been an inspiration to so many, and even patrols his neighborhood, giving out advice instead of tickets. Juilliard-trained Nathaniel Ayers, the inspiration for the movie "The Soloist," has gone from being homeless to living under supervision in various locations.
