Have you ever been stuck in a lift or an elevator?

Quite a few years ago I was stuck between 2 floors in a lift and we had to prise the door open and squeeze ourself out. Thankfully I've never had that happen to me after that. The present lifts I use tend to have a backup and hence move to the closest floor and the doors open. Have you ever been stuck in a lift or an elevator?

I had tried a couple of times when working in a local hospital.I didn't have a panic moment because the maintenance-in-charge knows what to in times like this.

@pitstop I think it didn't take long. It is just about less than 30 minutes.

I haven't been but it would be pretty scary I think. There was a big black out on the East Coast one time a number of years ago. It lasted for hours. My ex was living in Boston at the time. He was just about to get on an elevator before the power went out but he thought it was too crowded..and did not do it...Thankfully, he would have been stuck on there for hours!

I have never been stuck inside an elevator. What's more scary is when you are stuck inside and the lights were out.

You're right. It gets very claustrophobic and clammy and dark!

Did the lift have a backup for the lights or were you left in complete darkness

Just once when I was a kid. I had another friend with me luckily so we weren’t that scared. Help came very quickly

Being stuck alone is very scary. Having someone asking helps you stay calm and more patiently

Yes., in the year 2009 while I was in the lift was stuck up in between the 9 and 8 th floors and were just below the floor (9th floor) we got into. I opened the door and came out with a single push with my hands. After that, I went inside the office and informed the attendees to bring stools for those who can not come up. They did so and everybody came out safely.

I'm surprised you managed to open the lift from inside. Usually someone needs to use a "key" stick to open it on the outside.
